Job Title: Multi-Craft Maintenance Mechanic
Job Description
The Multi-Craft Maintenance Mechanic provides efficient and effective maintenance support to ensure reliable production operations in a clean manufacturing environment. This role delivers technical expertise in electrical, mechanical, electronic, and automation systems to support daily operations, drive continuous improvement, and help the organization achieve its production and performance objectives while maintaining a strong focus on safety and housekeeping.
Responsibilities
Provide timely and effective maintenance support to meet internal and external customer needs while maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
Actively participate in departmental projects, tasks, and objectives to improve equipment performance and production efficiency.
Support and manage automation equipment, including configuration and version control of programmable devices, hardware, and systems such as Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), vision camera systems, barcode scanners, intelligent sensors and devices, PC-based machine control systems, and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on a wide variety of electrical, mechanical, electronic, and electromechanical production equipment and building systems.
Use standard mechanical hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and electrical test equipment such as multimeters to diagnose and repair equipment issues.
Assist with equipment setup activities, including installation and setup of new machinery and supporting setup operators as needed.
Independently troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve breakdowns of hydraulic, pneumatic, and high-voltage electrical systems.
Work from layout plans, blueprints, operating or repair manuals, rough sketches, drawings, or verbal instructions to complete maintenance tasks accurately.
Troubleshoot and diagnose CNC equipment, including control systems of numerically controlled machines and related systems such as spot welding and other controlled processes.
Perform maintenance, repair, and calibration on CNC and related equipment by disassembling components, repairing or replacing faulty parts, reassembling, and adjusting equipment to proper specifications.
Conduct operational tests on repaired equipment to verify proper function and ensure that machines operate within required specifications.
Determine proper settings for timing and control parameters on equipment to optimize performance and reliability.
Follow strict safety procedures and critical facility work rules, including proper chemical handling, local codes, and safe operation of cooling systems and chillers.
Handle chemicals in accordance with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and maintain proper documentation and compliance.
Apply knowledge of safe work practices and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures to protect personnel and equipment.
Maintain a clean, orderly, and hazard-free work environment in all assigned areas.
Complete all required safety program objectives and training on time and apply learnings in daily work.
Actively contribute to cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to improve reliability and reduce downtime.
Demonstrate high ethical standards, personal and intellectual integrity, and mature judgment in all work activities.
Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, including operators, team leads, engineers, and cross-functional personnel across shifts.
Provide clear pass-down communication between incoming and outgoing shifts to ensure continuity of maintenance and production activities.
Work independently with a high degree of quality and reliability so that equipment consistently operates within required specifications.
Perform other maintenance-related activities as needed to support operations and departmental goals.
Essential Skills
Demonstrated experience with automation equipment, including PLCs, vision systems, barcode scanners, intelligent sensors, PC-based machine control systems, and SCADA systems.
Strong electrical maintenance skills, including troubleshooting and repair of high-voltage electrical systems.
Solid mechanical maintenance skills, including troubleshooting and repair of mechanical and electromechanical equipment.
Proven ability to troubleshoot and diagnose CNC equipment, including numerically controlled machine control systems and related equipment such as spot welding systems.
Hands-on experience performing corrective and preventive maintenance on a wide variety of production equipment and building systems.
Ability to use standard mechanical hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and electrical test equipment such as multimeters.
Experience troubleshooting hydraulic and pneumatic systems and resolving breakdowns independently.
Ability to read and interpret layout plans, blueprints, operating and repair manuals, sketches, and technical drawings.
Knowledge of proper chemical handling procedures and familiarity with Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
Knowledge of local codes, cooling systems, and chillers as they relate to maintenance and facility operations.
Strong understanding of safe work practices and strict adherence to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form with operators, team leads, engineers, and cross-functional teams.
Ability to interface and pass down information effectively between incoming and outgoing shifts.
Ability to work independently with a high degree of quality, reliability, and ownership of assigned tasks.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and the ability to use a PC and email for documentation and communication.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and facilitation skills to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
Ability to lift 50 pounds manually and repetitively as required by the job.
High ethical standards with strong personal integrity, sound judgment, and professionalism in all interactions.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED is required.
Twenty-four to thirty-six months of trade school or equivalent experience is preferred.
Experience in industrial multi-craft maintenance engineering is highly valuable.
Previous experience with CNC equipment repair is a strong plus.
Background working in a manufacturing environment with automation and complex production equipment is beneficial.
Ability to contribute to cost reduction and continuous improvement programs.
Comfort working as part of a fairly large maintenance team while also being able to work independently.
Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across departments and shifts.

Work Environment
This role is based in a manufacturing environment that is described as very clean, with a focus on safety and organization. The facility is not temperature controlled, so conditions may vary with the seasons. Work is performed around production equipment, automation systems, CNC machinery, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and facility support equipment such as cooling systems and chillers. Standard mechanical hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and electrical test equipment such as multimeters are used regularly, along with PCs and Microsoft Office for communication and documentation. Shift options include first shift (6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.), second shift (2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.), and third shift (Sunday to Thursday, 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.). The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, with some Saturday work currently in place. The culture emphasizes cleanliness, safety, and teamwork, and the environment is friendly and relaxed.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $30.00/hr.
