Location: John. F. Kennedy Middle School, Cheektowaga-Sloan Union Free School District
Salary/Pay Scale: $45,729 (+ $2,200 Master's) Per the CSUFSD TAC Contract
Position Summary/Purpose:
In the Cheektowaga-Sloan UFSD, the faculty and staff are dedicated to creating a positive, student-centered learning environment that recognizes the unique needs and talents of all students by integrating character education with a critical-thinking curriculum. The emphasis is on teaching the whole child to create lifelong learners who are well prepared for college, careers, and beyond.
Responsibilities & Skills:
Plan, organize, and deliver rigorous instruction that meets the diverse learning needs of students and consistently promotes high levels of student achievement and growth
Employ explicit instruction practices, including clear learning objectives, modeling, guided practice, and frequent checks for understanding, to ensure mastery of content
Implement differentiated instruction to address the varied academic, social, and emotional needs of all learners, including students with disabilities and English Language Learners
Establish and sustain a positive classroom environment grounded in restorative practices, prioritizing relationship-building, student voice, accountability, and a strong sense of community
Design and use a variety of formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress, inform instruction, and provide timely, actionable feedback
Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of student performance, progress, and development in accordance with district and state expectations
Model professionalism and a commitment to excellence by setting high expectations for all students and supporting them in achieving their goals
Integrate instructional technology purposefully to enhance engagement, collaboration, and student learning outcomes
Actively participate in department, school, and district meetings, and engage in ongoing professional learning to continuously improve instructional practice
Collaborate effectively with colleagues, support staff, and administration to promote student success and contribute to a positive school culture
Communicate clearly and consistently with students, families, and colleagues to support student learning and well-being
Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills in all professional responsibilities
Demonstrate a deep understanding of the NYS K-12 Social Studies Framework and use it to design coherent, standards-aligned, and engaging instructional units and lessons
Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or appropriate administrator
Requirements and Qualifications:
Childhood Education (Grades 1-6) required, with a Social Studies Extension (Grades 5-9) preferred
Experience as a classroom teacher preferred
