Location: Woodrow Wilson Elementary School, Cheektowaga-Sloan Union Free School District
Salary/Pay Scale: $45,729 (+ $2,200 Master's) Per the CSUFSD TAC Contract
Position Summary/Purpose:
In the Cheektowaga-Sloan UFSD, the faculty and staff are dedicated to creating a positive, student-centered learning environment that recognizes the unique needs and talents of all students by integrating character education with a critical-thinking curriculum. The emphasis is on teaching the whole child to create lifelong learners who are well prepared for college, careers, and beyond.
Responsibilities & Skills:
Design and deliver standards-aligned instruction across all content areas, with a strong emphasis on literacy development
Demonstrate a deep understanding of the Science of Reading, including phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension, and apply this knowledge to daily instruction
Implement structured, systematic, and explicit literacy instruction aligned to evidence-based reading practices
Utilize explicit instruction techniques, including clear learning targets, modeling, guided practice, and frequent checks for understanding
Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, linguistic, social, and emotional needs of all learners, including students with disabilities and English Language Learners
Establish and maintain a classroom culture grounded in restorative practices, emphasizing strong relationships, student voice, accountability, and community
Use a variety of formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress, inform instruction, and provide timely, actionable feedback
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance and progress
Integrate instructional technology purposefully to enhance student engagement and learning
Collaborate with colleagues, specialists, and support staff to improve instructional practices and student outcomes
Actively participate in grade-level, school, and district meetings, and engage in ongoing professional learning
Communicate effectively and consistently with students, families, and colleagues to support student success
Model professionalism by maintaining high expectations for all learners and supporting them in reaching their full potential
Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal or other appropriate administrator
Requirements and Qualifications:
NYS Certification in Elementary Education is required
Experience as a primary classroom teacher preferred
