Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled and reliable Automotive Mechanic to join our team at Meineke Car Care Center in Slidell, LA. The ideal candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles to ensure the highest level of safety and performance. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing excellent service to customers.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform diagnostics using electronic and mechanical testing equipment, including the Autel scanner.
Conduct routine vehicle inspections, including brakes, tires, fluids, suspension, and electrical systems.
Repair and replace defective or worn parts, such as brake pads, rotors, timing belts, and water pumps.
Execute engine diagnostics and repairs, including but not limited to tune-ups, oil changes, and cooling system maintenance.
Perform scheduled maintenance services according to manufacturer specifications.
Work closely with the service manager and customer service team to provide clear communication regarding vehicle status and required repairs.
Ensure all work is performed in compliance with industry safety standards and shop procedures.
Keep accurate records of all repairs and services performed.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring all tools and equipment are used properly and stored safely.
Stay up to date with new automotive technologies and repair techniques through continuous learning.
Follow shop protocol, including informing the service team upon arrival, before breaks, and at the end of the workday.
Operate tire machines, AC machines, car lifts, and alignment machines efficiently and safely.
Qualifications and Skills:
Minimum of 3 years of experience as an automotive technician.
ASE certification preferred but not required.
Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
Strong understanding of vehicle mechanical and electrical systems.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and repair guides.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong work ethic and ability to work efficiently under pressure.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Work Schedule:
Full-time schedule with availability for Saturdays.
Overtime may be required based on workload.
