Job Title: Payroll Manager

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented payroll professional with strong leadership skills and hands-on experience in supporting end-to-end payroll operations. This temporary role ensures continuity, accuracy, and compliance in payroll processes across multiple jurisdictions. The ideal candidate is adept at resolving payroll issues, supporting staff, and maintaining high standards of service during transitional or peak workload periods.

Responsibilities

  • Support end-to-end payroll processing and related operational activities to ensure accurate and timely pay for all employees.

  • Provide backup support to payroll team members on daily tasks to ensure accuracy, continuity, and adherence to established deadlines.

  • Contribute to month-end and quarter-end close activities, ensuring proper documentation, reconciliation, and compliance with internal reporting requirements.

  • Perform system testing for Oracle Time & Labor (OTL), Payroll modules, and various system enhancements or special projects to ensure accuracy and functionality.

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, provincial, and local payroll regulations; stay informed of legislative changes and implement updates to payroll processes and policies as needed.

  • Conduct routine internal audits to verify compliance with tax laws, company policies, and other payroll-related regulatory requirements.

  • Provide backup support in addressing employee payroll inquiries and escalations to ensure timely resolution and a positive employee experience.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support payroll operations and overall departmental needs.

Essential Skills

  • 5+ years of management experience in payroll.

  • 10+ years of experience in full cycle payroll.

  • Proficiency in Oracle and Oracle Time & Labor (OTL).

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables, formulas, and macros.

  • Experience with payroll processes, payroll tax, and payroll processing.

  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft, Kronos, accounting, reconciliation, tax, and reporting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of payroll experience within a large, complex organization.

  • Strong ability to break down complex information, analyze data, and clearly communicate findings.

  • Experience in driving continuous improvement initiatives and redesigning processes for efficiency.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and assignments, meet deadlines, and deliver results with clear communication.

Work Environment

The position is based out of our Sleepy Hollow location, where all corporate functions, including accounting and finance, are situated. The role offers a hybrid work environment with 4 days onsite and 1 day remote. This role will support day-to-day backlog while focusing on system implementation. Join us for a 1+ year contract with the opportunity to work for a leading pharma company in the area currently undergoing an Oracle implementation.

This is a Contract position based out of Sleepy Hollow, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $60.00/hr.
