Your role at baxter:The Senior Manager - Plastics Engineering is a crucial role in the Plastics Engineering department which is part of the Global Engineering in Integrated Supply Chain Organization. Plastics Engineering Group provides subject matter expertise in the broader Tooling & Molding area. It encompasses Injection Molding, Blow Molding & Extrusion processes. Individual is expected to have strong technical knowledge and experience in the areas of different types of tools, tool design, various types of machines, technologies and suppliers of equipment in above mentioned areas. Experience in Medical Device New Product Development is a must. Experience with Structured Phase Gate Development approach is huge plus, combined with application of DFM (Design for Molding & Design for Manufacturing) & DFA (Design for Assembly) principles is a must requirement. Ability and mindset of training & development of junior members of the Team is required. Manage Financials & Project Timelines, including holding Tooling vendors responsible for tool build quality and capability of molded products is a must requirement.The incumbent will work collaboratively with internal/external cross-functional teams consist of Suppliers, Tooling Vendors, Baxter Production Sites Technical & Supply Chain groups, R&D, Marketing, Quality & Clinical individuals on tooling & molding related challenges, capacity addition/replacement tools, quality issues & problems and new product development. He will cultivate collaboration by building positive relationships with internal partners (plant managers, QMRs, business segment leaders, procurement partners, etc.), and simplify the complex to solve business problems and drive business results. What you will be doing: * Lead & manage high profile, high complexity projects, which typically include capacity expansion, capacity replacement, new technology, new platform design & development projects. Manage technical design aspect of part design, tool design, capacity analysis, capital budget requirements & request approvals & broader Molding & Tooling strategy for internal manufacturing as well as Direct Procurement. * Extensive & in-depth knowledge of Hot runner tool design & its application in high cavitation tools. * Strong knowledge of Scientific Injection Molding Process Development utilizing Statistical Software & Analysis techniques. * Fundamental knowledge of various type of resins, raw materials and their application in medical device Design V&V. * Have experience based knowledge of various tooling & molding suppliers, their strength & capabilities over the period of time, including tool pricing structures & estimates for new tools & refurbishment of the tools. Be able to recommend and take decisions on tools build & repairs. * Strong knowledge of Quality Standards & requirements applicable to Medical Device Design & Manufacturing, including production platforms validation requirements such as IQ/OQ/PQ & Capability Requirements for DFSS & large-scale production platforms. * Knowledge of various resins and their processin characteristics is a plus. * Perform supplier capability assessment
