Medtronic Senior Principal Technologist – APAC IT Lead, Digital Experience & Innovation in Singapore, Singapore

As the Sr Principal Technologist – APAC IT Lead, Digital Experience & Innovation , you will be the strategic technology leader for eBusiness, digital ordering channels and digital transformation across the Asia Pacific region. You will drive digital innovation, partner closely with customer care and order operations, and ensure APAC requirements are represented in global solutions. This is a senior-level role requiring deep expertise in digital self-service, eCommerce, GenAI, hyper automation, and business relationship management.

As the Sr Principal Technologist – APAC IT Lead, Digital Experience & Innovation , you will:

Strategic Leadership and Roadmap Development

  • Define and maintain a regional and global portfolio roadmap for digital ordering, eBusiness, and innovation, fully aligned with Medtronic’s IT modernization, Customer Care and Order Operations digital transformation strategy, and APAC business needs.

  • Lead the development of a long-term vision for digital self-service and ordering platforms, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, KPIs, and technology strategies.

  • Shape demand, prioritize intake, and gather requirements from APAC stakeholders, ensuring local needs are represented in global solutions (EDI, self-service, eCommerce).

  • Drive innovation by identifying and integrating emerging technologies (GenAI, hyper automation) and expanding digital capabilities across platforms and applications.

Digital Solution Delivery and SDLC Support

  • Oversee the end-to-end SDLC for digital self-service, ordering, and innovation initiatives, ensuring robust requirements gathering, design, development, testing, and deployment.

  • Partner with global and local teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and compliant digital solutions for APAC.

  • Support business continuity planning and execution for digital ordering platforms, ensuring minimal disruption to customer care and order operations.

Stakeholder Management and Business Relationship Management

  • Act as the primary point of contact for APAC digital ordering and innovation, providing regular updates and addressing concerns from business and IT stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with customer care and order operations, product owners, developers, and IT leadership to ensure digital solutions meet business and technical requirements.

  • Represent APAC in global forums, advocating for regional needs and ensuring APAC requirements are embedded in global digital strategies – live the mindset of ‘Think Global, Act Local’.

  • Serve as the CC&OO APAC business relationship manager, monitoring and supporting business and IT communications, and ensuring rapid resolution for any IT outages or system impacts during APAC business hours, with seamless handoff to EMEA/US counterparts as required.

Continuous Improvement and Innovation

  • Promote the adoption of modern digital methodologies such as Agile, DevOps, GenAI, and hyper automation.

  • Identify inefficiencies in current digital processes and champion automation solutions to improve productivity, quality, and customer experience.

  • Document lessons learned from digital initiatives to refine workflows and drive future improvements.

Issue Resolution and Operational Excellence

  • Lead issue resolution and performance monitoring for digital ordering and self-service platforms during APAC business hours, ensuring timely support and high service levels.

  • Serve as the APAC stakeholder manager for customer care and order operations, accountable for immediate response, troubleshooting, communication, and business continuity for any operational issue or outage—across all supporting technologies (e.g., call center, SAP ERP, network, etc.), not limited to digital platforms.

  • Partner with global and regional IT teams for seamless handoffs and rapid resolution, maintaining uninterrupted operations for customer care and order processes.

Team Development and Knowledge Sharing

  • Mentor and guide team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence in digital innovation.

  • Establish a community of practice for digital ordering and eBusiness, sharing knowledge, tools, and best practices across APAC teams.

  • Organize workshops, training sessions, and hackathons to promote innovation and skill development.

  • Stay updated on industry trends and bring innovative ideas to Medtronic’s digital practices.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 10+ years of experience in IT, with a strong focus on digital ordering, eBusiness, and innovation leadership roles.

  • Proven expertise in designing and implementing scalable digital platforms and driving digital transformation strategies.

  • Hands-on experience with eCommerce, EDI, self-service platforms, and digital innovation technologies (GenAI, hyper automation).

  • Strong knowledge of SDLC, Agile, DevOps, and business continuity planning.

  • Experience integrating digital solutions into global and regional IT landscapes.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and inspire cross-functional teams and leaders at all levels.

  • Experience managing digital platforms across multiple APAC countries and cultures.

  • Medtronic business acumen and functional knowledge of digital eBusiness, digital order channels, customer care and order operations.

  • Technical knowledge of EDI, Medtronic Connect, UI Path, AWS cloud, SAP Commerce Cloud, SAP ERP, webMethods, Databricks.

  • Familiarity with enterprise-scale IT systems and working in a highly matrixed organization.

  • Familiarity with generative AI and hyper automation tools, technology, and market—including understanding what is needed to be successful with digital transformation in a maturing, matrix environment.
