Adjuster/ Trainee Adjuster

To augment the existing team of liability department, based in Singapore with the development and handling of all aspects of Baggage claims in the Asia Pacific region.

Main duties include:

  • To develop negotiation skills in the handling of Baggage claims.

  • To maintain records of fees, budgets and time recorded on files and to be responsible for own time recording for fee purposes.

  • To assist in the efficient filing of correspondence, documents when required, and maintaining data records and issuance of regular quarterly Bordereaux/Invoicing.

  • To churn out monthly reports and case statistics to the Airlines.

  • To support and assist the existing adjuster in the handling of the department’s case work on behalf of Underwriters and their Clients.

  • Drafting correspondences to Claimants.

  • Assessing claims and providing recommendations to the Airlines.

  • Meeting with Claimants, clients and their service providers.

  • Risk analysis of baggage handling procedures.

  • Any other administrative duties required.

Person specification:

  • Business-level proficiency in reading and writing Traditional Chinese is essential for client liaison with Mandarin‑speaking clients.

  • Insurance claims experience level with work experience.

  • Qualified with Basic Insurance Concepts and Principles (BCP), Personal General Insurance (PGI) and Commercial General Insurance (ComGI).

  • A degree in law is preferred.

  • Highly organized with good time management skills significant experience of administration in a busy office environment and good secretarial skills. Able to work in a team environment and also independently.

  • Articulate and well spoken. Able to deal confidently with internal and external clients together with members of the public in person and on the telephone.

  • Able to handle own correspondence and to express legal principles clearly in correspondence.

  • Confident in dealing with issues, which may arise day to day, with experience of working in an environment on several complex tasks simultaneously. Able to use initiative within scope of position.

  • An understanding of the working environment and a desire to continue to develop business awareness of the job and the principles of Insurance and relevant Laws, Jurisdictions and Regulations.

  • Good interpersonal skills and an awareness of dealing with high level, sensitive and confidential issues.

  • Able to operate in a Windows/Outlook Environment, so experience of Word and Excel to a high level is required for this role.
