Stirrett Johnsen is seeking a full-time Payroll and Accounts Payable Specialist with strong accounting skills for our operations. Applicant should be organized, detail oriented, efficient, able to manage multiple tasks, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, and possess strong computer skills.
Stirrett Johnsen is a locally owned mechanical contractor. Projects include hospitals/health care facilities, office towers, high-rise living spaces, industrial buildings, and community landmarks. Primary Responsibilities:
- Ensure weekly payroll is processed accurately and timely.
- Accurate and timely filing of payroll related taxes and employee deductions (including but not limited to Form 941, 401K, health savings, garnishments, union benefits, etc).
- Answer employee inquiries and enforce payroll policies.
- Maintains payroll-related general ledger accounts.
- Timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices.
- Process payments of outstanding payables.
- Research and resolve vendor inquiries and statement discrepancies.
- Calculate and prepare suggested vendor payment schedules for approval.
- Perform vendor payment reconciliation on a weekly and period basis.
- Prepare account reconciliations and information requests as needed.
- Filing.
- Adhere to internal control policies and procedures.
- Assist CFO with month end, quarter end, and year end reporting.
- Assist with other accounting and administrative responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Possesses good problem solving skills and analysis.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Detail oriented, organized, and accurate in completing work assigned.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- 5 years of relevant accounting or administrative experience desired.
