Position Purpose
- Scheduling Specialist supports customer relations, physician relations, patient care and hospital business services by performing quality functions for scheduling and registering services for multiple areas throughout the hospital. The Scheduling Specialist is a highly skilled Patient Access colleague responsible for timely and accurate appointment scheduling with expertise in scheduling protocols, registration, insurance requirements/verification, identification of accurate patient responsibility with notification to the patient for Trinity Health.
As a “Specialist II, Scheduling, Patient Access” you will:
Completes scheduling of appointment, pre-registration, insurance verification and authorization requirements with collection of out-of-pocket payments.
Analyze patient insurance(s), identifies the correct insurance plan, selects appropriately from HIS insurance and plan selections and documents correct insurance order.
Maintains knowledge of insurance requirements communicated by email, memorandum, educational matrices, and in-services.
Ensure that all staff, patients, departments, and external resources are notified of additions, changes, and cancellations.
Collects self-pay deposits, co-payments, and deductibles from patients.
Reconciles all point of service payments at end of shift and deposits with Cashier as per department policy.
Provides instructions to prepare patients for examination, procedure, and financial requirements, including the need for a signed ABN or Financial Responsibility Form.
Minimum Qualifications:
Hight School graduate or Equivalent (required)
Associate degree (preferred)
2+ years of relevant experience (required)
CPCS (preferred)

0.5 FTE (20 hours weekly) up to 1.0 FTE (40 hours weekly)**
Pay Range: $19.72 - $27.61
Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
