Position Summary
The Custodian supports the ministry of First Baptist Church by maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming church buildings. This full-time position works closely with the church staff to ensure facilities are properly cared for in support of daily operations, ministries, and church events.
Key Responsibilities
o Building Care
Open and secure church buildings as required.
Maintain cleanliness and order throughout church and school facilities, including classrooms, restrooms, offices, and common areas.
Provide routine and as-needed cleaning in areas used by children and students.
Respond promptly to unexpected spills and sanitation needs to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
Follow proper cleaning and disinfecting procedures in accordance with health and safety standards.
Perform other cleaning and facility-related duties as assigned.
o Maintenance & Event Support
Perform minor maintenance tasks
? Example of tasks: replacing light bulbs, converting fluorescent lighting to LED, replacing air filters, repairing or replacing faucets, fixing toilets, repairing restroom partitions, interior painting of walls, doors, and trim, repairing door knobs or hinges, replacing outlets or switches, and patching small roof leaks.
Assist with room setup and breakdown for church services, school activities, and special events.
Move furniture and equipment as needed.
o General Expectations
Communicate regularly and respectfully with the supervisor.
Maintain a professional appearance and Christlike attitude.
Follow church policies, safety procedures, and confidentiality standards.
Use church supplies, tools, and equipment responsibly.
Perform other duties as assigned.
