The Assistant Facilities Project Manager supports the planning, execution, and closeout of facility-related capital projects across Copeland manufacturing and office locations. This role is intended as a developmental position for early-career professionals seeking to build technical, project management, and facilities engineering experience in an industrial environment.
Working under the direction of a Facilities Project Manager or Facilities Director, the Assistant Facilities Project Manager will assist with project coordination, cost and schedule tracking, contractor oversight, documentation, and field execution. This role provides exposure to HVAC, utilities, infrastructure, sustainability initiatives, and capital project delivery while developing the skills required for progression to a Facilities Project Manager role.
As an ASSISTANT FACILITIES PROJECT MANAGER, You Will:
Project Planning & Execution Support
Assist in the planning and execution of facility capital projects, renovations, and infrastructure improvements.
Support development and maintenance of project schedules, budgets, and scopes of work.
Track action items, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and closeout documentation.
Coordinate site access, shutdown windows, and contractor activities in active manufacturing environments.
Participate in project meetings, site walks, and safety briefings.
Support project commissioning, punch lists, and turnover to operations.
Facilities & Infrastructure Support
Assist with facility assessments related to HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and utility systems.
Support space planning efforts, equipment layouts, and facility modifications.
Document existing conditions, infrastructure constraints, and utility capacities.
Assist with coordination of equipment installations and facility tie-ins.
Vendor & Contractor Coordination
Support coordination with contractors, consultants, and vendors.
Assist with bid reviews, scope clarifications, and contractor onboarding.
Monitor contractor progress for alignment with schedule, safety, and quality expectations.
Support verification of completed work against scope and contract requirements.
Budget & Cost Tracking
Assist with cost estimating and budget development for capital and expense projects.
Track project spending against approved budgets and forecasts.
Support preparation of appropriation requests (ARs), capital justifications, and financial summaries.
Assist with invoice review and reconciliation.
Standards, Sustainability & Compliance
Support implementation of corporate facilities standards and best practices.
Assist with sustainability, energy efficiency, and emissions-reduction projects (Scope 1 & 2).
Support data collection and reporting related to energy, utilities, and facility performance.
Assist with documentation related to regulatory, safety, and environmental compliance.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain organized project files, drawings, schedules, and correspondence.
Assist with preparation of project status reports, dashboards, and presentations.
Support lessons-learned documentation and continuous improvement efforts.
Career Development
- This position is intended as a developmental role with progression to Facilities Project Manager based on performance, demonstrated competency, and experience.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Facilities Management, or a related technical field.
0–5 years of experience in project engineering, facilities, construction, manufacturing, or related environments (internships and co-ops included).
Basic understanding of project management principles (schedule, cost, scope).
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Ability to work in active industrial and manufacturing environments.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Travel to other Copeland sites as needed (10-20%).
Primarily based at assigned facility and regular presence in manufacturing and construction environments is needed.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:
Internship or early-career experience in manufacturing, construction, or facilities engineering.
Exposure to HVAC, mechanical systems, electrical systems, or industrial utilities.
Familiarity with CAD drawings, blueprints, or technical documentation.
Interest in sustainability, energy management, or facility optimization.
Experience working with contractors or vendors.
Onsite Work Arrangement:
This role is based fully onsite, and not eligible for hybrid or remote work opportunities.

This location is the headquarters for the HVACR Americas business unit.
