Commission on Aging Substitute Bus Driver in Sidney, Montana
Hours: As Needed Between 7am and 6pm Monday-Friday 1 Year Probation Period Salary: $20.50/hour Richland County Transit DEPARTMENT: RICHLAND COUNTY COMMISSION ON AGING/TRANSPORTATION SERVICE ACCOUNTABLE TO: RCCOA/RCT Director JOB DESCRIPTION: This position is on an as needed basis and has no guaranteed number of hours. The employee is responsible for the safe, efficient and courteous delivery of passengers to and from their destination in accordance with the laws of the State of Montana and the policies and procedures of Richland County Transit. This is a safety sensitive position which requires the ability to pass pre-employment drug testing and random drug and alcohol testing. This position also requires that the employee be able to adapt to an office setting as required in the Coordinator's absence. Duties of this position include but are not limited to: 1. Driving a passenger bus/van in all weather conditions 2. Performing a daily pre-trip inspection on bus/van before starting the vehicle 3. Keeping interior and exterior of vehicle neat and clean 4. Have working knowledge of all components of the vehicle you are operating (lift, controls, etc.) 5. Keeping a professional and courteous attitude toward passengers, co-workers, and dispatcher 6. Assisting passengers on and off vehicle and to and from their door 7. Collecting appropriate fares from passengers (fare-free) 8. Assisting passengers with packages, groceries, etc. to their door 9. Following and enforcing all safety rules in accordance with the policies and procedures of RCT Safety rules include but are not limited to: a. Using hands free Bluetooth for all calls while operating a revenue service vehicle b. The use of seatbelts/car seats for all passengers c. Follow all traffic rules and laws d. Refrain from ALL texting and data usage while vehicle is in motion 10. Being aware of personal appearance and conduct while representing RCT 11. Being aware of all RCT policies and procedures including Accident Procedures 12. Obtaining and staying current on CPR/First Aid and PASS certifications 13. Maintaining an acceptable driving record 14. Staying abreast of traffic trends (road construction, detours, etc.) so the most timely route is used 15. Maintaining a professional attitude while busy or while accepting constructive criticism/advice 16. Maintaining accurate and timely records 17. Be willing to help out in areas as needed 18. A willingness to accept and seek out extra duties during downtime 19. Ability to adapt to change in work schedules and manifests 20. Perform other duties as assigned 21. Attend all training and meetings as requested by Supervisor 22. Accept and become proficient at all new technology implemented by RCT 23. Assist with "Meals on Wheels" delivery as needed (incidental only) 24. Perform general office work and possess basic computer knowledge 25. Dispatch rides in an efficient manner 26. Be pleasant to customers on the telephone and in person JOB REQUIREMENTS • KNOWLEDGE: This position requires knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance (checking oil, tire pressure, etc.) and general bookkeeping. Training to gain knowledge in CPR, First Aid and PASS (Passenger Assistance, Safety and Service) will be provided to RCT employees • SKILLS: This position requires skills in driving a passenger bus/van as well as organizational skills. The ability to remain professional and efficient during stressful situations is also a required skill. • ABILITIES: This position requires correctable eyesight, dependability and the ability to be patient with passengers, remain calm in stressful situations, help passengers in and out of bus/van and assess passenger capabilities as to memory and walking. The ability to effectively communicate, follow verbal and written instructions and establish effective working relationships with fellow employees, supervisors and the public is also required. • JOB REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a lean driving record and a valid Montana Driver's License. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: This position requires a history of job-related dependability and a combination of experience and education equivalent to a High School diploma. JOB PERFORMANCE STANDARDS: Evaluation of this position will be based primarily upon the performance of the preceding requirements and duties.
