WAYNE GRAVEL PRODUCTS INC Concrete Truck Driver in Shinglehouse, Pennsylvania

Wayne Concrete in Shinglehouse, PA is now taking applications for responsible, full-time Ready Mix Concrete Truck Drivers. Applicants must be able to drive manual transmission. No prior experience required in hauling/mixing of concrete. We will train the right candidates. A positive, can-do attitude is a must. Work could be up to a 100 mile radius but you will be home every night. Day shift Monday -- Friday with some weekends and overtime required.

Job Description

  • Ensure the highest quality of product delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Load, mix and safely haul ready mix concrete to various jobsites.
  • Check all load-related documentation to ensure that you understand the location of the delivery, verifying instructions and routes.
  • Awareness of the type of concrete as well as any extra items required for delivery.
  • After loading, check the condition of the load and make any water adjustments while mixing.
  • Must climb ladders on the rear of the mixer to inspect loads.
  • Collaborate with other drivers as part of a driving team on some deliveries.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
  • Maintain accurate logs of working hours, vehicle service and repair status, delivery records and logs following applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Maneuver trucks into loading/unloading positions assuring that vehicle position is correct for loading at different batch plants. 
  • Obtain receipts or signatures when loads are delivered and collect payment for services when required.
  • Communicate effectively to exchange necessary information with customers, dispatch, supervisors, or other drivers.
  • Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks such as adding oil, fuel, and radiator fluid, and perform minor truck repairs.
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.
  • Maintain and clean the truck and the mixer unit.
  • Other responsibilities include yard work, making bumper blocks and any other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Valid CDL (Class A preferred) with tanker endorsement.
  • Clean driving record (violations in the last three years.)
  • Current DOT physical card.
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulations.
  • Ability to operate and maintain equipment.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Physical capability to handle the demands of the job.

Conditions of Employment

  • Successful candidates must submit to pre-employment drug/alcohol screen.
  • This position requires FMCSA regulated ongoing random drug and alcohol testing.

Work Environment

  • Role operates primarily in environments where the conditions include moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, cold, humidity, and elevated noise level.
