Wayne Gravel Products in Shinglehouse, PA is seeking hardworking, self-motivated, team-oriented Asphalt Paving Laborers to join our Paving Crew. The Asphalt Paving Laborer prepares job sites, distributes and smooths asphalt, operates or assists with roller or paver machinery, and maintains a clean and safe work environment. They work outdoors in various conditions, collaborating with others to complete paving tasks. Attention to detail and physical stamina are important, as is the ability to work as part of a team.

Applicants must be able and willing to withstand working in the sun in hot summer temperatures. A positive can-do attitude is a must. Applicants must have a valid driver's license (CDL preferred) with a clean driving record. Applicants must be willing to work overtime, some weekends and holidays during the construction season.

Key Responsibilities

· Preparing the job site. This includes tasks like offloading materials, setting up tools, and ensuring the area is ready for paving.

· Shoveling, raking, and smoothing asphalt to the proper grade and thickness are essential.

· Laborers may assist with or operate paving equipment like rollers, compactors, and power brooms, and may also operate a pavement saw for joints.

· This includes tasks like traffic control (flagger duties), ensuring the work zone is safe, and maintaining equipment.

· Asphalt paving is a collaborative effort, so laborers need to be able to work well with others and communicate effectively.

· The job is physically demanding, requiring the ability to lift, carry, and maneuver materials, as well as the ability to stand for extended periods.

· Asphalt laborers may also be responsible for tasks like measuring and lining out the job, cleaning the work area, and assisting with the launchpad for the paver.

· Ensuring the job is done correctly and meets specifications is imperative.

· OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.

· Hourly rate starting at $20- $28 and up depending on experience.
