Boehringer Ingelheim Logistic Planner / Staff / Demand Management Gr, Commercial SCM Dept(大崎) in Shinagawa, Japan

Basic Purpose of the Job

  • To ensure compliant, efficient, and optimized distribution and logistics operations with Nippon Boehringer Ingelheim products to support stable supply.

  • To lead continuous improvement and cross‑functional projects across transportation, warehousing, and 3PL management.

  • To ensure that distribution and logistics operations and related processes comply with GMP and GDP standards.

Accountabilities

1. Transportation & Distribution Management

  • Hold operational responsibility for import finished goods inbound transport (port to DCs), ensuring timely and cost‑efficient delivery.

  • Monitor inbound schedules, resolve delays or carrier issues, and escalate risks when required.

  • Support Demand Planners’ YG-DC, DC-DC track planning and manage import goods and temperature-controlled products for East-West DC inventory balancing.

  • Ensure transportation activities comply with GDP, GMP, and relevant corporate and local standards.

  • Manage vendor selection and contracting in collaboration with the Purchasing team.

2. Distribution Center Operations

  • Manage distribution center and warehouse operations to ensure adherence to GDP/GMP, corporate policies, SOPs, and local regulatory requirements.

  • Ensure appropriate procedures, processes, and documentation are in place, updated, and audit‑ready.

  • Coordinate disposal activities in compliance with regulatory standards.

  • Support regulatory inspections and internal/external audits for warehousing and distribution.

  • Ensure readiness of 3PLs for day‑to‑day warehouse operations.

3. 3PL Management

  • Manage contract with purchasing, negotiations, service levels, and performance reviews.

  • Ensure 3PL operations are compliant with GDP/GMP, validated processes, and contractual requirements.

  • Act as primary operational owner of 3PL performance, monitoring operational KPIs.

4. Partner & Vendor Management

  • Manage external vendors involved in logistical supplies, supporting materials, and discard activities.

  • Oversee contract management and ensure partners are compliant with GDP/GMP and corporate expectations.

  • Ensure alignment and coordination across all external partners that support logistics operations.

5. Data, Systems & Master Data Governance

  • Maintain accurate logistics‑related master data across SAP and related systems.

  • Create and modify SAP material master for import SKUs.

  • Lead SAP testing activities with Demand Management Group scope.

6. Support and/or lead distribution and logistics projects and activities

  • Lead or support logistics and distribution projects and meet target timelines and budget.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service quality, compliance readiness, and operational efficiency.

  • Review and update SOPs, work instructions, and end‑to‑end logistics processes in accordance with GDP/GMP and corporate requirements.

  • Contribute to global and local SCM initiatives by sharing best practices and adopting new standards.

7. Report Creation

  • Create reports of CSL, 3PL activity related KPIs, Distribution related KPIs.

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree (Any) or above

Required Skills / Experience

Special Skills

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in logistics and/or warehouse management

  • Strong inter-personal skills and able to work cross-functionally

  • Strong communication skills in facilitating meetings and communicating information

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills

  • Experience in SAP ECC / SAP APO

  • Proficient in Excel (Power Query, Pivot, and key functions), Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Positive and keen to learn

Language Skills & Proficiency

Any of the following certifications would be preferred

APICS –CLTD

Both English/Japanese intermidiate level
