Role Purpose:
As a key player in the Corporate Communications Group, position us as a company with strong values and a distinctive profile to our major target groups, media, general public, patients, job seekers and our employees.
Enhance the company’s reputation among internal and external stakeholders through comprehensive integrated communication, aligned with the company’s key strategies, statements, topics and projects.
Drive the strategic positioning and brand identity of the corporate brand to enhance the corporate image. As part of this effort, ensure brand consistency through the management of brand assets and governance.
Key Job Accountabilities:
Lead corporate reputation building in close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, as well as global counterparts.
Lead the development, management, and enhancement of the corporate brand, while formulating communication strategies that effectively convey our brand and identity.
Lead the end-to-end process of planning, creating, and disseminating compelling content across all channels—including owned media, paid media, and corporate publications—to enhance corporate value. This role also involves internal coordination, performance measurement, and collaboration with stakeholders both within and beyond Corporate Affairs, including PR agencies when necessary.
Continuously evolve internal and external communications to enhance stakeholder understanding of the company, establish a strong position, and increase engagement through strategic storytelling and the effective dissemination of the corporate slogan.
Ensure the integrity and consistency of the corporate brand by closely collaborating with global corporate brand team and advising stakeholders across and beyond the Corporate Affairs to appropriately manage and embed brand assets.
Ensure the company is regarded as trustworthy, reliable, and value-oriented in accordance with our intended messages and timely key topics/projects through communication channels.
Establish the best media mix to provide reliable information in a timely and efficient manner needed by external stakeholders & employees.
Develop and maintain relationships with media/journalists, and plan and execute various media events such as press conferences and press interviews.
Develop messages and stories appealing to defined stakeholders to create desirable perception about the company.
Manage issues related to safety and security matters to protect company reputation by planning and implementing appropriate communication plans.
In coordinating with the global agenda, execute initiatives effectively through effective localization such as corporate branding, media relations, internal projects and social activities
Leverage appropriate tools and channels to maximize communication impact.

Qualifications:
Direct experience in dealing with journalists and media
Practical experience in the communications field
Leading development and implementation of communication strategy (press releases, press interviews, press conferences, internal messages, digital tools etc.)
Hands-on experience in content creation (not limited to outsourcing to PR agencies, but including the ability to plan, write, and direct the production of visual materials independently)
Experience in leading corporate brand adoption, as well as managing and overseeing brand assets and governance
Familiarity with pharmaceutical industry regulations (or a strong willingness to proactively catch up immediately after joining)
Ability to understand and comply with industry regulations (such as the Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Act and Promotion Code) and company policies, while demonstrating a high level of ethical standards
Strong writing skills
Ability to create logical, concise, and creative written content, including presentation materials
Skill in tailoring messages according to the target audience and communication channels
Excellent project management skills
Track record in successfully leading cross-functional projects, involving multiple stakeholders into successful outcomes
Critical thinker with ability to self-manage workload, including reprioritizing and delivery under tight timelines.
Multiple task management and stakeholder management skills
Experience in vendor management
Open-minded, team-oriented, flexible and adaptable in a changing environment
Ability to work well under pressure, influence without authority, good interpersonal and negotiation skills
Effective communication skills in both Japanese and in English
Work experience in the pharmaceutical / life science industry
Hands-on experience in in-house communications and branding
Knowledge and practical experience in digital communications and digital platforms
