Job Title: Commissioning Operator - Utilities (Water) Unit
Location: Sherwood Park, AB
Our client is seeking a Commissioning Operator - Utilities (Water) Unit to join their team. As a Commissioning Operator - Utilities (Water) Unit, you will be part of the Operations Department supporting the Water & Common Areas team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach, which will align successfully in the organization.
Job Description:
Oversee initial startup, testing, and stabilization of Water & Common process areas, including systems like Cooling Tower, Veolia Reverse Osmosis (RO), and Electrodeionization (EDI) units.
Work closely with Vendors and subcontractors, performing hands-on field activities such as troubleshooting equipment and verifying system performance against design specifications.
Support the transition from construction to operational phases, ensuring seamless system startup and commissioning.
Adhere to all safety directives, including site-specific safety plans like the Simultaneous Operations (SIMOPS) and Safety In Transition (SIT) plans.
Train Operations personnel and support testing and optimization of systems, including membrane startup and system performance verification.
Qualifications:
Power Engineer certification (minimum 4th Class).
3-10 years of operations experience, with commissioning and start-up experience considered an asset.
Experience with cooling towers, RO units, and EDI operation is highly desirable.
Required safety certifications including OSSA & CSTS-20, Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry & Monitoring, WHMIS, and H2S Alive.
Strong safety awareness and commitment to following EH&S standards and procedures.
