    Assistant Volleyball Coach

    Position Summary

    Shenandoah Community School District is seeking a High School Assistant Volleyball Coach for a one-season, one-year appointment . The assistant coach supports the head coach in organizing and leading the volleyball program, helping student-athletes develop skills, teamwork, sportsmanship, and a positive competitive experience. Must have a Coaching License or be able to obtain a Coaching Authorization before the season begins.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Assist the head coach with planning and conducting practices and game preparation

    • Provide instruction in volleyball fundamentals, strategy, and player development

    • Help supervise student-athletes during practices, contests, travel, and team activities

    • Support program-wide expectations for behavior, academics, and sportsmanship

    • Assist with equipment/uniform management and basic program organization

    • Communicate professionally with student-athletes, families, staff, and officials

    • Follow all district policies, athletic department procedures, and league/association rules

    • Maintain required certifications and complete mandated trainings (if applicable)

      Qualifications

    • Prior volleyball playing and/or coaching experience preferred

    • Ability to work effectively with high school students in a team setting

    • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills

    • Knowledge of volleyball rules and skill progression

    • Willingness to commit to the full season schedule (including practices and competitions)

    • Required clearances/background checks per district policy

    • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to season start)

      Work Schedule / Time Commitment

    This is a seasonal coaching assignment requiring availability for:

    • After-school practices (typically weekdays)

    • Games/competitions (including some evenings and possible weekends)

    • Pre-season meetings and any required athletic department trainings

      This position is a one-year/one-season commitment only.
