Assistant Volleyball Coach
Position Summary
Shenandoah Community School District is seeking a High School Assistant Volleyball Coach for a one-season, one-year appointment . The assistant coach supports the head coach in organizing and leading the volleyball program, helping student-athletes develop skills, teamwork, sportsmanship, and a positive competitive experience. Must have a Coaching License or be able to obtain a Coaching Authorization before the season begins.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the head coach with planning and conducting practices and game preparation
Provide instruction in volleyball fundamentals, strategy, and player development
Help supervise student-athletes during practices, contests, travel, and team activities
Support program-wide expectations for behavior, academics, and sportsmanship
Assist with equipment/uniform management and basic program organization
Communicate professionally with student-athletes, families, staff, and officials
Follow all district policies, athletic department procedures, and league/association rules
Maintain required certifications and complete mandated trainings (if applicable)
Qualifications
Prior volleyball playing and/or coaching experience preferred
Ability to work effectively with high school students in a team setting
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
Knowledge of volleyball rules and skill progression
Willingness to commit to the full season schedule (including practices and competitions)
Required clearances/background checks per district policy
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to season start)
Work Schedule / Time Commitment
This is a seasonal coaching assignment requiring availability for:
After-school practices (typically weekdays)
Games/competitions (including some evenings and possible weekends)
Pre-season meetings and any required athletic department trainings
This position is a one-year/one-season commitment only.
