Actalent Surveyor in Shelton, Connecticut

Surveyor – Help Shape the Land, Build the Future

Do you love working outdoors, solving real‑world challenges, and seeing your work take shape in the built environment? Are you energized by a mix of fieldwork and technical drafting? If you're looking for a role where every day brings a new landscape to map and new problems to solve, this is the place for you.

We’re looking for a motivated Surveyor to join our tight‑knit, highly skilled team. You’ll play a key role in delivering accurate, reliable land surveys that guide major construction projects, land development, and environmental planning efforts across Connecticut and New York.

If you enjoy variety, technical precision, and collaborating with engineers and project teams, you’ll feel right at home here.

What You’ll Do

In this hands-on role, you'll work both in the field and at the drafting table to bring projects to life:

  • Draft topographical surveys, property boundaries, and construction layouts using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

  • Download and upload survey data to ensure accurate, up-to-date digital models.

  • Conduct land records research to support boundary and property investigations.

  • Work closely with engineers and project teams to ensure survey data aligns with project requirements.

  • Support field operations across a range of environments—from active construction sites to wooded terrain.

Every project is different, and you’ll have the chance to expand your skills across a wide range of surveying challenges.

What You Bring

  • 2+ years of experience in land surveying or CADD drafting.

  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD.

  • Hands-on experience drafting topographical surveys, property boundaries, and construction layouts.

  • Proficiency in Civil 3D.

Bonus Points If You Also Have:

  • Previous experience in survey-specific drafting or field operations.

  • A passion for solving problems outdoors and working with a collaborative team.

What It’s Like to Work Here

  • Small, supportive team: Join a close group of eight professionals who value teamwork, skill-sharing, and getting the job done right.

  • Field-first role: Most days will be spent outside at job sites throughout Connecticut (and occasionally New York), with some office time for drafting and data processing.

  • Consistent schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with occasional overtime or weekend work depending on project needs.

  • Active, hands-on environment: Job sites range from construction sites to forested areas, so physical activity is part of the daily routine.

  • Strong mentorship: You’ll work directly with a survey manager who will support your growth and help you master more advanced surveying tasks.
