Senior Field Application Engineer – Server & Industrial Power
Location: Shanghai, China
Key Responsibilities
Solution Architecture: Lead the technical promotion of PI’s highly integrated AC/DC and DC/DC products for Server and Industrial Power applications.
Design-In Excellence: Provide end-to-end technical support, from initial topology selection to mass production. Focus on optimizing AC/DC front-end stages, including Totem-pole PFC and Resonant LLC converters etc.
Industrial Diversification: Support specialized power requirements for ESS and Solar Inverters, focusing on high-voltage power supplies (Aux-PSU) and reliable gate driver solutions.
Complex Troubleshooting: Solve critical system-level challenges, including thermal management, EMI compliance, and high-frequency magnetics design, ensuring customers meet or exceed 80 Plus Titanium standards.
Market Intelligence: Feedback local requirements for high-power density and high-voltage reliability (up to 1700V) to our global product definition teams to influence PI’s future GaN and SiC-based roadmaps.
Job Requirements
Domain Expertise: B.S./M.S. in Electrical Engineering or Power Electronics with minimum 8 –12 years of hands-on experience in high-power AC/DC conversion.
Technical Depth: Mastery of Server PSU architectures and switching power topologies (PFC, LLC, Flyback).
Familiarity with Industrial Power requirements, specifically for Energy Storage (ESS) and Photovoltaic (PV) systems.
Semiconductor Proficiency: Deep understanding of power MOSFETs and Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology. Experience with PI’s PowiGaN™ or similar wide-bandgap (WBG) devices is a significant plus.
Lab Skills: Expert in using power analyzers, frequency response analyzers (for loop stability), and thermal imaging tools.
Communication & Language: Proactive communicator capable of building strong relationships with key stakeholders at major OEMs/ODMs. Professional fluency in both Mandarin and English for global R&D collaboration.
