Eastman Product Manager in Shanghai, China
Responsibilities
Supplier scouting & qualification
Identify, evaluate, and qualify new suppliers and product opportunities (domestic and international) that fit our product, quality, cost, lead‑time and compliance requirements.
Run supplier discovery sprints, organize lab analysis and installation testing to validate technical capability, capacity, and commercial fit.
Product specification & lifecycle ownership
Develop and maintain clear, testable product specifications and acceptance criteria for sourced products.
Supplier relationship & commercial management
Own ongoing supplier relationships: commercial terms, lead times, capacity planning, and price negotiations
Support contract renewals, NDAs, quality agreements, and change‑control processes.
Quality, yield and issue resolution
Monitor supplier performance (quality metrics, yield, defect rates, on‑time delivery).
Coordinate root‑cause analysis and corrective action for quality incidents, and track remediation to closure.
Coordinate cross‑functional incident response and communicate impacts to stakeholders.
Cross‑functional program and project leadership
Structure and lead sourcing stage gate projects (scoping, resource plan, milestones, dependencies) as needed
Act as the central point between procurement (sourcing and AMS), supply‑chain/planning, product management, finance/accounting, and legal.
Cost, margin and portfolio optimization
Provide input to portfolio rationalization decisions: which sourced SKUs to introduce, keep, or sunset based on margin, complexity, and asset implications.
Bridge between product/commercial with sourcing / AMS and planning to ensure bring in product at the right quantity / right time, minimize chances for stock out / EEOA.
Working with Sourcing/AMS on supplier product performance cost optimization, improve financial performances.
Process & governance
Own 3rd party sourcing managing process, drive continuous improvement of supplier management processes and documentation.
Influence & stakeholder management
Influence cross‑functional stakeholders without direct authority; escalate and present recommended actions to senior leadership.
RCP responsibilities: observe and summarize patterns, identify competitive insights and communicate with key stakeholders in time with facts and recommendations as fits
Qualifications
Must to have:
Exceptional project & program organization
Proven track record structuring multi‑stakeholder projects, managing timelines, dependencies, and deliverables.
Deep customer requirements understanding
Ability to translate internal and external customer needs (product managers, operations, end customers) into actionable product specifications and supplier requirements.
High technical aptitude and hands‑on technical experience
Strong technical literacy relevant to the product domain (e.g., processes, test methods).
Analytical & financial acumen
Comfortable building cost models, margin analyses, and forecasting supplier impact on P&L.
Strong interpersonal, influencing skills, with strong curiosities, connecting dots, putting puzzles into picture.
Technical background, to be able to make correct judgement in supplier capability in 1. Unique / strength of technology innovation; 2. Quality control capability and process integrity; 3. Work with supplier in process/quality improvement to provide consistent high quality of product.
Nice to have:
Film industry understanding
Supplier & commercial savvy: Experience in commercial terms negotiation, supplier management is a plus.
Quality & manufacturing process knowledge: Familiar with quality systems (root cause analysis (5‑Why, Fishbone), CARs and inspection/test planning.
Can push people and hold suppliers and internal teams accountable while maintaining productive relationships. Skilled at influencing without direct authority and synthesizing inputs into clear recommendations.
Communication & documentation: keep supplier interaction/product performances/discussion as well sample history well
Resilience & bias for action
Pragmatic problem solver who escalates appropriately and closes open items. Drives pilots and tests to fast‑fail and learn.
Preferred experience & background:
5+ years in product management, supplier management, sourcing, procurement, or manufacturing/quality role
Prior experience managing third‑party suppliers and new product introductions (NPI) at scale.
Industry experience in Films preferred.
Familiarity with relevant regulatory requirements (e.g., REACH, etc.).
Bachelor’s in engineering, supply‑chain, sourcing or related field
