Wayfair Manager, Safety & Security- APAC in Shanghai, China

Wayfair is seeking a Manager, Safety & Security to join our Global Safety & Security (GLOSS) team, supporting operations across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. This role will report into the Sr. Manager of Safety & Security Operations and will ensure consistent delivery of GLOSS programs including travel security, safety and security initiatives, event support, first aid readiness, regulatory compliance, threat intelligence, and business continuity while also contributing to global initiatives as needed.

This is a dynamic and highly cross-functional position that requires proactive engagement and close collaboration with other GLOSS functions, business leaders, and cross-functional partners. Success will depend on the ability to influence and align stakeholders at all levels, while also maintaining effective partnerships with external agencies such as embassy security officers, regulatory authorities, local police, and fire services.

The Manager will serve as a regional leader and trusted advisor, helping site and regional leadership anticipate risks, strengthen resilience, and continuously improve safety and security outcomes. Frequent travel across APAC locations and occasional international travel will be required to ensure consistent program delivery, relationship management, and on-the-ground support.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and execute regional safety and security plans covering on and off site events, travel support, first aid readiness, regulatory compliance, threat intelligence, and business continuity.

  • Anticipate operational and safety challenges across APAC and implement proactive solutions to strengthen security, resilience, and compliance.

  • Coordinate emergency response procedures, drills, and training activities in alignment with global GLOSS standards.

  • Partner with site operations and leadership to embed safety, security, and continuity processes into day-to-day operations and long-term planning.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to site and regional leadership, providing risk assessments, escalation pathways, and recommendations for continuous improvement.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with government and public safety officials to ensure compliance and effective coordination during incidents.

  • Lead incident documentation, analysis, and post-incident reviews to identify trends and drive global and regional continuous improvement.

  • Oversee and influence vendor management to ensure alignment of third-party security providers with Wayfair’s standards.

    What You’ll Need

  • Demonstrated experience in safety, security, business continuity, or related operational roles with multi-site or regional exposure, preferably within APAC.

  • Strong knowledge of regional safety, security, and regulatory requirements, with the ability to adapt global standards to local contexts.

  • Familiarity with threat intelligence practices and the ability to translate insights into proactive risk management strategies.

  • Proven ability to collaborate with government agencies, regulatory authorities, and public safety partners.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence and build trust across diverse stakeholders.

  • Flexibility to travel frequently across APAC, with occasional international travel.

  • Preferred qualifications: professional certifications (CPP, PSP, CBCP, or equivalent), experience in multinational organizations, and proficiency in one or more APAC languages.

  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods (e.g., sitting or standing).

  • Ability to move about within an office, store, or warehouse environment.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. as needed.
