Meta Display Module Advanced Manufacturing Engineer in Shanghai, China
Summary:
At Meta, we’re developing the future of AR/VR. Within our Supplier Development Engineering organization, we are building a team of hardware engineers with competencies across a variety of fields. The mission of the group is to drive the operational development and execution of New Technology Introductions (NTI) to High Volume Manufacturing (HVM) of innovative AR displays and optics solutions. As an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer you will be responsible for critical optical components and subassemblies, module process development and manufacturing at Meta’s Contract Manufacturers. You will work closely with design, engineering, product, supply chain, program management, and external manufacturing partners to understand, develop and implement high-yielding, stable processes to enable the high-volume manufacturing of optics and display modules for AR. You will have a technical background in optics, physics, manufacturing or equivalent experience in the field with shipping optical components and modules in mass production for consumer devices. Team members readily manage ambiguity, ramp quick on unfamiliar, challenging problems, and influence our research and development teams to push for operational readiness as we strive towards the mass production of complex products that integrate several novel, nascent technologies.
Required Skills:
Display Module Advanced Manufacturing Engineer Responsibilities:
In this role, you will apply your end-to-end expertise and ownership through the NPI engineering and production phases to successfully ramp display modules, from upstream components to module assembly/integration and end-of-line test. You will define and own key performance indicators (KPIs) such as yield, process capability, cycle time and OEE, and will devise and lead improvement plans to meet these targets. You will work closely with external partners to proactively identify and resolve technical and operational risks, and drive containment, failure analysis and corrective actions for technical issues. You will work with internal customers to understand and address downstream technical issues related to the module design and process, and drive convergence on process, equipment, and specifications based on evolving system and ID requirements
Drive ramp and MP readiness with cross-functional team (R&D, HW Engineering, HW Test, Quality, and GSM partners)
Drive development and execution of plans for transfer of New Technology Introduction (NTI) to high volume manufacturing for our display module sub-assemblies
Work with cross-functional teams and CM partners to develop manufacturing processes at the factory to drive line-qualification, manufacturing metrics and rigorous validation plan for high volume production
Drive yield improvement, process troubleshooting, failure analysis and corrective action (FACA) with contract manufacturing (CM) partners
Drive cost and cycle time reduction through line balancing, process optimization, and applying lean principles
Work with the R&D teams to identify and mitigate technology and manufacturing risks, design and process tolerances of display modules
Work with internal partners to identify vendors and support vendor roadmap development for high volume production equipment
Communicate and drive accountability for specifications, manufacturing metrics, and line qualification requirements to external vendor
Support data validation for design and process robustness by evaluating limits of design/process windows
Influence process/equipment/site convergence as it relates to meeting design requirements and manufacturability targets
Traveling 50% to contract Manufacturing vendors for support
