The Position
Position: Business Development Lead
Location: Shanghai, China
As Business Development Lead, you are responsible for late-stage China-only BD in-licensing opportunities with end-to-end contributions, from search and evaluation to internal governance preparation to due diligence and transaction, working closely with multiple local and global stakeholders.
Your Opportunity:
Identify portfolio gaps which will complement our commercial offering in China. Seek external growth opportunities (with a focus on late stage) with synergies and fitting our internal guardrails to address these gaps and to maximize our revenue in China and contribute to our 2030 ambitions with additional inorganic growth coming from BD deals.
Scout the external opportunities from both Chinese and overseas companies, with a good BD network and connections.
Conduct early evaluation with strong analytical capabilities, including understanding of the MoA, competitive environment, market potential, opportunities, etc.
Lead and co-lead with global BD the end-to-end deal process, including commercial assessment, due diligence, valuation, negotiation, and contracting, working closely with multiple local and global teams.
Actively manage the external connection and act as the key SPOC for potential partners.
Prepare the internal reporting and presentations to the senior management team to facilitate internal governance.
Conduct market research and analysis, and assess future markets and proactively propose new business opportunities. Actively monitor latest industry dynamics and deal trends, and have the acumen to capture potential inorganic opportunities
Build and maintain an effective and extensive external BD network that enables potential opportunity identification and partner searching.
Organize, track, document and report on the status of all prospects in the business development pipeline
Establish and maintain relevant BD contacts/database with external parties
Who you are:
Master degree and above. Pharmacy, Biology, Medicine, life science majors preferred
Entrepreneurship with proactiveness and open mindset
Focus on value creation and results driven
Excellent influencing and communication skills
Excellence collaboration with local and global teams
High integrity
6 years pharmaceutical/healthcare industry experience in consulting/investment and in-house MNCs or biotechs
Proven track record of end-to-end BD deal experience
Strong negotiation skills
Good presentation skills to senior leadership team
Strong interpersonal skills
Extensive knowledge of pharma industry, BD process and market research
Project management experience and skills
Strong analytical skills, modeling, valuation
Fluent in both written and oral English
