Job Title: TIG Welder
Job Description
Join a growing manufacturing team as a TIG Welder, specializing in the production of Ultra High Vacuum (UHV) ion pumps made from stainless steel. You will perform precise TIG welding on a variety of standard and custom products, working from blueprints and schematics on short-run orders. This role offers the opportunity to develop your skills across approximately 20 different product lines and advance from Welder I to Welder III over time.
Responsibilities
Perform high-quality TIG welding on stainless steel components used in Ultra High Vacuum (UHV) ion pump manufacturing.
Execute primarily butt welds, with additional piping welds as required by specific product designs.
Interpret and work from blueprints and schematics to weld both standard products and custom variations.
Produce short-run welds, typically handling orders of approximately 3–10 parts per job.
Maintain consistent weld quality and adhere to established specifications and tolerances.
Inspect welds visually and functionally to ensure they meet quality and performance standards.
Handle, position, and secure materials safely, including lifting items up to 50 lbs as needed.
Collaborate closely with the welding and production teams to meet production schedules and priorities.
Keep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with safety and cleanliness standards.
Contribute to a positive team culture by communicating effectively and supporting continuous improvement.
Essential Skills
Welding certification in TIG welding.
At least 2 years of TIG welding experience on stainless steel.
Proficiency in TIG welding techniques for both butt welds and piping welds.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics accurately.
Experience working with stainless steel materials in a manufacturing or production environment.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs safely as part of daily duties.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds.
Ability to work effectively as part of a small, close-knit welding team.

Work Environment
The role is based in a small manufacturing facility with approximately 40 employees, including a production team of about 25 people and a welding team of around 6. The company operates in a new, clean, and well-organized building, with a strong emphasis on maintaining a tidy and safe worksite. You will work hands-on with stainless steel components and TIG welding equipment, producing short-run batches of specialized UHV products. The environment is collaborative and team-oriented, where culture and teamwork are highly valued and everyone plays an important role in supporting growth and production goals.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Shakopee, MN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
