Blue Origin LLC Technical Designer III - GS3 in Seattle, Washington

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable. As a Technical Designer for New Glenn Stage 3 (GS3) you will be responsible for creating models, drawings, and configurations of engine hardware with a focus on assemblies, precision machined parts, and source controlled items. You will be responsible for the release of the detail design, production/manufacturing support, as well as the integration into the rocket engine assembly. Some components you could be responsible for include valves, high pressure cryogenic fluid systems, pressurization systems, and hydraulic systems. As part of this role, you will work closely with the Responsible Engineers, Development/Test Engineers, and Manufacturing Engineers across the team on a daily basis. Responsibilities: Design and maintain component and assembly product definition by preparing design layouts and drawings, modifying existing designs and resolving design discrepancies. Apply Design for Manufacturing and Design for Assembly. Apply relevant company, industry (design, drafting, parts) standards to engineering designs. Implement engineering and manufacturing best practices to achieve a balanced approach to cost, schedule and performance requirements. Self-prioritize and self-schedule work activity in support of the team. Qualifications: 5+ years of relevant design and drafting experience of structural parts, precision components, and subsystems using Creo/Wildfire/Pro-Engineer. Proficient in Windchill and Creo View. Strong work ethic, high attention to detail and great communication skills. Knowledge of fabrication and integration processes for machined components and welded assemblies. Experience managing large CAD assemblies and associated drawings. Proficient with ASME Y14.100, Y14.5, Y14.41, etc. Desired Experience with design in disciplines such as: propulsion, aircraft, spacecraft, oil & gas, automotive, naval, nuclear, or heavy equipment. Extensive practice in Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA). Rocket engine structural and fluid systems experience.
