Job Title: Software Engineer II -- Backend (only w2 contractors) Duration: 10 Months Location: 1600 7th Ave Seattle, WA 98101 Shift Timing: 1st Pay Rate: $55/hr. to $66/hr. on w2 without benefits Pre-Screening Questions: How many years of hands-on experience do you have with Java and Spring Boot in production systems? Have you designed or consumed RESTful APIs? Do you have experience with event-driven or messaging systems (Kafka, SQS, etc.)? Job Description: Software Development Engineer II will design, build, and support scalable backend systems that power Nordstrom's restaurant technology, including point-of-sale and labor management platforms. You will work closely with Product and Engineering teams and own services end-to-end with minimal supervision. Role & Responsibilities: Design and develop Java / Spring Boot microservices and REST APIs. Build scalable, reliable, and secure solutions for production environments. Develop and maintain automated tests and CI/CD pipelines. Support production systems with an operational mindset (monitoring, reliability, defect prevention). Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver customer-focused solutions. Required Qualifications: 4+ years of professional software development experience. Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot. Experience with RESTful APIs and microservices architecture. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or GCP preferred). Familiarity with CI/CD, infrastructure tools, and monitoring/logging. Experience with automated testing (unit, integration, regression). Strong communication skills.
