This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable. Responsibilities This role supports the Avionics Software Systems Engineering of New Glenn, a reusable, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. As a member of our team, you will: Develop and maintain automated test frameworks and validation tools Analyze system test data to identify anomalies, trends, and potential issues Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate and verify avionics systems Support systems engineering activities including requirements verification, modeling, and analyses Document verification processes and software The ideal candidate is a strong Python developer who enjoys solving complex problems, working across teams, and learning new domains. A deep passion for Blue Origin's mission is essential. Qualifications: Minimum of a B.S. degree in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science or a similar technical/engineering field Proficiency in Python, specifically for automation, testing, and data analysis Experience with software testing methodologies and best practices Conceptual understanding of Systems Engineering and Requirements Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across disciplines Self-directed with ability to manage competing priorities Knowledge of version control systems (Git) Experience developing tests using automation frameworks (pytest, unit test, etc.) Contribute to process improvement and best practices development Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion, follow growth mindset, and practice psychological safety Desired: Familiarity with Linux/UNIX environments Experience with data analysis tools like Databricks, Tableau, Jupyter, etc. Experience interfacing with stakeholders on technical requirements and implementation Understanding of systems engineering principles and requirements Exposure to avionics, embedded systems, or other safety-critical domains Experience with Agile development practices Familiarity with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, DOORS/DNG, or MATLAB/Simulink Project Management and/or Technical Leadership skills Understanding of verification processes for certified industries Systems engineering experience in requirements capture, tracing, and verification planning.
