Job Information

Amazon Software Development Engineer II, Security Response and Engineering in Seattle, Washington

Description

Join our team creating innovative solutions that help AWS developers build secure systems without sacrificing speed of delivery. In this role, you'll design and develop complex features for an AI-based security system that works like having a security expert embedded directly in development teams. You'll collaborate with scientists and security experts to build tools that provide continuous feedback to developers right in their IDE, allowing them to quickly identify and address security concerns in their designs and code. Your work will directly enable AWS developers to build more ambitious products faster than ever before, while maintaining the high security standards that AWS customers depend on.

Key job responsibilities

  • Design and develop features for an AI-based security system that provides continuous feedback on code security within developers' IDEs, ensuring developers can quickly update designs to remove security issues

  • Work collaboratively with scientists and security experts to build trusted security guidance systems for AWS developers, ensuring high quality and operational excellence

  • Contribute significantly to the full software development lifecycle, including scoping, design, code, testing, deployment, and maintenance of the team's software

  • Actively participate in code reviews, providing meaningful feedback to team members and ensuring security best practices are followed

  • Engage directly with development teams across AWS to understand their needs, gather feedback, and implement improvements that enhance the developer experience while maintaining security standards

A day in the life

Your day begins with a meeting with development teams who are actively using your AI security tool. You listen to their feedback and take notes on how the system is working in real environments. After the meeting, you'll spend time designing improvements based on that feedback, focusing on making security guidance more intuitive and actionable. Later, you'll write code to implement these changes, carefully considering security implications and developer experience. You'll also review designs and code from teammates, providing thoughtful feedback to ensure quality and security standards are maintained across all features.
