The Offers engineering team is at the core of Amazon's e-commerce business. This team develops services used by millions of merchants to expose customers to new products or updated offerings on existing products. Leveraging massively parallel processing and proprietary techniques, the team processes billions of price updates to maintain the freshness of Amazon's catalog. The solutions delivered by this team bring unique experience to customers around the globe on any given day. The Offers platform team is an agile, fast-moving group driving the future of this central component of Amazon's shopping experience. We are seeking a Software Development Engineer (SDE) to shape that future.
In this role, you will participate in all aspects of the software development process, from collaborating with customers on design to implementing that design in a scalable and extensible manner. You will have the opportunity to solve complex computer science problems and contribute to the business on a daily basis. Successful candidates are passionate about translating high-level, ambiguous business goals into software platforms that enable multiple business units. You should be driven to take initiative, deliver extensible and timely solutions, and be a valuable member of high-performing teams.
Key job responsibilities
The ideal candidate will have strong distributed systems and web services design and implementation experience. You should have a thorough understanding and experience implementing services at scale. You should be somebody who enjoys working on owning software services, is customer-centric, and feels strongly not only about building good software but about making that software achieve its goals in operational reality.
About the team
Offer Listing System plays a critical role in the Catalog systems, enabling the launch of new business initiatives such as Quick Commerce/Hyper local, Off Amazon Selection (OAS). The team collaborates with customers to understand feature use cases and requirements, proposes designs, finalizes technology choices, drives design reviews with peers, Senior SDEs, and PEs and supports resiliency and stability.
The team owns core services that process listing data for all sellers, powers both interactive and bulk update feeds. These are distributed, highly performant, and highly available micro-service computing system containing billions of records with low latency and high availability.
Basic Qualifications
3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
