Blue Origin LLC Senior Manager, Software Engineering in Seattle, Washington

This role is part of Enterprise Technology (ET), where we're developing the digital infrastructure needed to build the road to space, with an emphasis on digital capabilities required to advance Blue Origin's mission. Enterprise Technology is the center of excellence for digital technology at Blue Origin, providing oversight and governance to align technology and business strategies. We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to lead a team focused on developing manufacturing automation through AI, Full stack development, and web applications to enhance efficiency across our company to build the future of Space Travel to build a road to space. As the Manager of the Work Order Execution team, you will lead all aspects of a team of experts dedicated to supporting manufacturing by developing software capabilities and products that enable real-time analysis, decision-making, and MES execution and management. You will play a pivotal role in driving AI innovation through the implementation of sophisticated software and hardware technologies with the latest AWS technologies, data approaches, and machine learning to build distributed, highly available systems. Responsibilities: Lead the design, monitoring, maintenance, and improvement of Blue Origin's data pipelines and associated infrastructure, ensuring the highest levels of data utilization and trust. Coordinate the development of automated batch and stream data processing systems, focusing on performance, resiliency, and observability. Manage, own, maintain, and enhance multiple existing software services and software implementation. Work with the team to build data collection solutions fed from IoT systems, databases, PLCs, and APIs. Ensure efficient data transfer to the cloud through edge devices or networked control systems. Lead the development and integration of web applications to support various manufacturing, testing, and maintenance capabilities. Ensure that web applications are scalable, secure, and integrate seamlessly with existing systems and data sources. Foster a collaborative team, providing technical mentorship and support to team members, and stepping in to resolve technical challenges as needed. Collaborate with multi-functional teams to ensure high-quality data integration and alignment with business objectives. Qualifications: BA/BS in computer science, information science, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Proven leadership experience in leading and mentoring a software development team. Strong understanding of software engineering principles and the ability to translate domain expertise into applications. Strong understanding of emerging technologies and usage patterns for using AI to develop software faster and more efficiently. Experience with web application development, including frontend and backend technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, etc).
