Blue Origin LLC Principal Spacecraft Systems Engineer - Blue Ring (TS/SCI Required) in Seattle, Washington

The role is part of the In-Space Systems business unit, which is focused on addressing two of the most compelling challenges in spaceflight today: space infrastructure and increasing mobility on-orbit. As part of a hardworking team of engineers, you will apply your broad multi-disciplinary engineering knowledge, skills, and methods to help ensure our spacecraft satisfies the needs of our critical partners through rigorous systems engineering practices. As part our Blue Ring Spacecraft Systems Engineering team you will help ensure the program requirements, operational descriptions, and system designs have been shaped so that the overall system meets our customers' needs. You will assist in the definition and verification of system interfaces, architecture, and con ops. Finally, you will work with all program interfaces including Assembly, Integration, & Test (AI&T), Mission Management, Launch Vehicle, Payloads, and Mission Operations. The position requires strong collaboration within the SSE team and across the entire program. In this fast-paced and dynamic environment, you will contribute to innovative solutions while demonstrating personal leadership, technical competence and judgement, and a commitment to the highest technical standards. Special Mentions: Relocation provided Travel expected up to 10% of the time Active TS/SCI security clearance required Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Offer spacecraft expertise and leadership, guiding the systems engineering team both hands-on and as a mentor. Structure and allocate requirements successfully, managing changes, and defining interfaces efficiently. Collaborate with the mission management and the systems architect to understand the needs of the team members. Ensure requirements are applicable for specific builds within a multi-mission product line. Plan and develop verification methods and events. Conduct technical analysis, trade studies, and research. Design mission threads to integrate spacecraft with external systems. Finalize vehicle specifications with verification and validation data from Assembly, Integration, and Test (AIT). Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering or a related technical field Over 15 years of experience in crafting, developing, and launching aerospace systems, with a preference for robotic spacecraft experience At least 6 years of expertise in aerospace systems engineering Proven track record of leading all aspects of an aerospace project from requirements definition to verification Extensive understanding of Systems Engineering processes and standard methodologies, including the "Systems Engineering V" model Strong problem-solving abilities and proficiency in trade study methods Leadership or management background with a history of mentoring team members Excellent written and verbal communication skills A Top Secret/SCI clearance required. Preferred Qualifications: Proficiency in the spaceflight systems certification process. Expertise in deriving and allocating system-level requirements. Familiarity with collaboration tools like Confluence and JIRA.
