Job Information
Amazon Portfolio Manager, Global Tax Services in Seattle, Washington
Description
We're seeking a Portfolio Manager to transform how our Tax organization operates. You'll lead the strategic planning cycles, prioritization processes, and stakeholder relationships that keep our fast-growing team aligned and efficient, ensuring we can focus on what matters most: serving our customers effectively. This is a high-impact opportunity to orchestrate portfolio management across nine Tax domains, facilitate critical trade-off decisions, and partner with leaders across the organization to solve complex operational challenges. You'll balance competing priorities, bring the right stakeholders together to make decisions that serve the broader organization, and take ownership of initiatives that directly improve how we work.
Key job responsibilities
Lead annual operational planning and off-cycle/quarterly reviews across all Tax domains, managing the lifecycle of complex planning cycles including prioritization, business expansion coverage, and legislative change coverage
Validate and prioritize project requests, balancing urgency, impact, and capacity; facilitate trade-off decisions between competing Tax priorities while recognizing Tax customers own final prioritization
Analyze delivery team project prioritization and resource allocation to ensure alignment with Tax priorities; when misalignment exists, bring appropriate stakeholders together to facilitate discussions and achieve alignment
Lead reporting of planning outcomes and portfolio performance (on-time delivery and value realization) to Tax leadership
Define requirements for portfolio management tooling and drive tool adoption and process standardization across Tax customer organizations, ensuring accurate portfolio information flows between stakeholders
Communicate insights clearly across all business levels, translating complex operational information into actionable recommendations through both written and verbal communication
Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline portfolio management processes, and collaborating with the Delivery Team Coordination Manager and technical teams to bring solutions to life
Partner with the Delivery Team Coordination Program Manager to transition approved initiatives from planning to execution and translate delivery status into Tax stakeholder insights
A day in the life
As our Portfolio Manager, you'll spend your time orchestrating the planning and prioritization systems that keep our Tax organization aligned and efficient. You might start your day reviewing planning outcomes and portfolio performance to prepare updates for Tax leadership, then shift into a working session with Tax teams to refine our intake process or prioritization framework. You'll consult with Tax leaders across 9 VP Tax organizations to understand their evolving needs, then translate those insights into process improvements and requirements for portfolio management tooling like Intake Manager. Throughout the day, you'll communicate complex information clearly to audiences at all levels—from individual contributors to senior leaders—and facilitate discussions that bring Tax customers and delivery teams into alignment. You'll also navigate competing stakeholder interests thoughtfully, facilitating trade-off decisions while recognizing that Tax customers own final prioritization.
About the team
You'll join the Global Tax Services Portfolio Management Team, serving as the primary interface between our Portfolio Team and Tax customer organizations across nine Tax domains. We manage a large volume of technology initiatives across six delivery teams and are committed to operating with clarity, efficiency, and customer focus. Our team values transparency, continuous improvement, and collaborative problem-solving. We're building the operational foundation that allows our colleagues across Tax to do their best work, and we're looking for someone who shares our commitment to excellence.
