University of Washington Patient Services Specialist Supervisor in Seattle, Washington

UW Medical Center–Montlake-Emergency Department Registration has an outstanding opportunity for a Patient Services Specialist Supervisor .

WORK SCHEDULE

  • 100% FTE (40 hours per week)

  • Monday – Friday

  • Day Shift; 6:30am - 3:00pm

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

The Patient Services Specialist Supervisor (PSS-Supervisor) oversees various supervisory and administrative non-clinical functions within the department. This role is responsible for leading and supervising staff in the Patient Services Specialist class series, as well as other assigned personnel.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure smooth daily operations and patient safety by prioritizing tasks and managing workflow.

  • Oversee staff scheduling, HR data systems, and deliver high-quality customer service.

  • Track inventory, submit repair orders, and support departmental quality improvement efforts.

  • Supervise and support staff while modeling professional and courteous communication.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain organizational systems and unit procedures.

  • Collaborate to uphold safety standards, infection control, and emergency protocols.

  • Advocate for patients and families, ensuring privacy, dignity, and cultural sensitivity.

  • Foster teamwork across departments and represent the unit in meetings and committees.

  • Maintain knowledge of medical terminology, hospital policies, and Epic ADT systems.

  • Lead and participate in training, continuing education, and professional development.

  • Demonstrate strong coordination, multitasking, and leadership skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word, with experience working with diverse populations.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a medically related or public relations field

  • Four years of experience as a Patient Services Specialist

  • An equivalent combination of four years’ experience as a Patient Services Specialist, a UW Supervisory Skill Certificate, and education/experience may substitute for stated requirements
