Nuclear Shielding Engineer Zeno is seeking a highly motivated Nuclear Shielding Engineer in our Analysis group to support the mission-oriented efforts of developing and bringing to market Radioisotope Power Systems (RPS) technologies. In this role you will: Perform radiation shielding design analysis for radioisotope power systems and radiological facilities, including calculation of dose, energy deposition, and material degradation due to irradiation. Design and analyze new systems for solving complex problems Design and execute sensitivity studies to evaluate the impact of modeling assumptions (e.g., geometry complexity, meshing, variance reduction techniques, transport options), and help build corrected methods as needed. Ensure the final shielding design and implementation meets the radiation shield requirements Establish and maintain document of requirements, analysis results, and radiation shielding design solutions Help to ensure consistency, traceability, maintainability, and technical rigor in documentation Perform review of models, calculations, and reports to ensure adequacy and accuracy of vendor submitted technical work products Support planning for new initiatives and assist with requirements development and strategic planning Key Qualifications and Skills B.S degree in Nuclear Engineering or equivalent 2+ Years of industry or research related experience (Masters degree or Ph.D and 0+ years of experience) Experience in radiation shielding design and analysis Knowledgeable or highly motivated to learn radiation effects on electronic components Strong computational expertise, including use of Monte Carlo transport codes (e.g., MCNP, OpenMC, GEANT, etc.) Working knowledge of nuclear and/or general numerical methods (e.g., activation analysis, dose rates, partial differential equations, Monte Carlo transport, variance reduction techniques, nuclear data, etc.) Excellent verbal and communication skills Meet deadlines and perform under pressure in an uncertain environment Preferred Qualifications Experience with Linux and high performance computing (HPC) Experience with Attila4MC and computed aided drafting (e.g., SolidWorks, SpaceClaim/ANSYS, Cubit) Experience working under an NQA-1 (or similar) quality program Job Functions Position requires in-office presence in Seattle (South Lake Union) on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, remote work is optional on Mondays and Fridays Travel: Travel is required, Motor Abilities: Sitting and/or standing for extended periods, bending/stooping, grasping/gripping, fine motor control (hands) Physical exertion and/or requirements: Minimal, with ability to safely lift up to 15 pounds Repetitive work: Prolonged Special Senses: Visual and audio focused work Work Conditions: Stairs, typing/keyboard, standa
