Providence St. Joseph Health Music Therapist - Oncology in Seattle, Washington

Description Providence Swedish is seeking a compassionate and skilled Licensed Music Therapist to join our Oncology Outpatient Clinics. In this vital role, you will deliver evidencebased music therapy interventions designed to reduce stress, enhance coping strategies, inspire creative expression, and support the physical and emotional wellbeing of patients and their families throughout the cancer care journey. As an integral member of our Psychosocial Oncology Team-which includes Music Therapy, Art Therapy, Social Work, and Psychiatry-you will collaborate closely with medical professionals to provide coordinated, interdisciplinary care. This position offers a meaningful blend of collaborative teamwork and independent clinical practice, with opportunities to provide both individual and group interventions while helping to expand and embed music therapy services across our oncology programs. Key Responsibilities: Provide evidencebased music therapy interventions that reduce stress, strengthen coping skills, foster creative expression, and support the physical and emotional wellbeing of oncology patients and their families. Serve as a core member of the Psychosocial Oncology Team-including Music Therapy, Art Therapy, Social Work, and Psychiatry-ensuring an integrated and collaborative approach to patient and family support. Collaborate closely with medical staff and interdisciplinary care teams to align music therapy services with patient treatment plans and overall care strategies. Deliver both individual and group music therapy sessions, utilizing clinical judgment to tailor interventions to diverse patient needs across the oncology spectrum. Expand and embed music therapy services across oncology clinics, contributing to program development and increasing access to supportive therapies. Maintain professional documentation, uphold ethical standards, and participate in ongoing program evaluation and improvement initiatives. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree - Music Therapy from an American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) approved university program Washington Music Therapist License upon hire National Board Certification in Music Therapy upon hire Holds and maintain the Music Therapist-Board Certified (MT-BC) title Preferred Qualifications: Coursework/Training - Advanced training in Neurologic Music Therapy Coursework/Training - Advanced training in Guided Imagery and Music 2 years of music therapy, medical setting preferred Why Join Providence Swedish?
