We are adding an Engineering Manager to the growing Product Engineering organization. As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading and developing high-performing software engineering teams while driving the successful delivery of product initiatives across one or more Scrum teams. responsible for member and Agent portals/App. This is a hands-on, player/coach role requiring strong technical expertise in both front end (React, Next.js) and backend (Python, Go, Java, node.js) technologies

This role blends people leadership, delivery execution, and technical stewardship. The Engineering Manager will have direct HR responsibility for engineering team members and will partner closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Architects, and peer leaders to ensure teams deliver high-quality software aligned to business priorities. Essential Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead, coach, and develop Software Engineers across one or more Scrum teams.

  • Serve as the people manager for assigned engineering resources, including hiring, onboarding, performance management, career development, and compensation input.

  • Drive delivery execution by partnering with Product Owners and Scrum Masters to plan, track, and deliver work across multiple concurrent initiatives.

  • Ensure teams consistently deliver high-quality, scalable, and maintainable software aligned with architectural standards.

  • Balance short-term delivery needs with long-term technical health and team sustainability.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, psychological safety, and continuous improvement.

  • Remove impediments and proactively address risks that impact delivery, quality, or team health.

  • Support estimation, capacity planning, dependency management, and prioritization across teams.

  • Collaborate with Architecture and senior technical leaders to ensure sound technical direction.

  • Monitor delivery metrics (velocity, predictability, quality, reliability) and use data to drive improvement.

  • Encourage engineering best practices including code reviews, testing, documentation, and operational excellence.

  • Mentor engineers and emerging technical leaders.

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders and leadership on progress, risks, and outcomes.

  • Support organizational initiatives related to process improvement, tooling, and ways of working.

Required Skills / Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field.

  • 8+ years of professional experience in software development or technology roles.

  • 3+ years of experience leading software engineering teams in an Agile / Scrum environment.

  • Demonstrated experience managing engineers with direct HR responsibility.

  • Strong understanding of modern software development practices, architectures, and delivery models.

  • Experience supporting delivery across multiple Scrum teams or complex initiatives.

  • Ability to balance hands-on technical understanding with people leadership and delivery oversight.

  • Strong understanding of Agile principles and frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, etc.).

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage competing demands.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

  • Passion for developing people and building strong, engaged teams.

  • Driven to continuously learn, improve, and evolve as a leader.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Experience acting as a technical lead, architect, or senior engineer prior to moving into management.

  • Experience managing distributed or hybrid teams.

  • Familiarity with cloud-native architectures and modern DevOps practices.

  • Experience delivering software in regulated industries (healthcare, finance, insurance).

  • Exposure to AWS-based platforms and services.

  • Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives related to Agile maturity and delivery excellence.

  • Strong partnership mindset with Product Management and Architecture.

  • Previous experience supporting enterprise-scale platforms or multiple product lines.

Hands on experience in:

  • Frontend: React, Next.js

  • Backend: Python, Go, Node.js

  • Strong understanding of microservices architecture and container orchestration (Kubernetes/EKS).

  • Familiarity with Amazon Bedrock, LLM models and prompt engineering (preferred).

  • Familiarity with Mobile application development

  • Prior experience or domain knowledge in the PBM industry is strongly preferred

Based on relevant market data and other factors, the anticipated hiring range for this role is $152,000 to $190,000 annually. Final compensation rates will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, and internal equity considerations. This role is also short-term incentive eligible. Incentive amounts will vary by individual and business goals.
