Blue Origin LLC Launch Vehicle GNC Engineer in Seattle, Washington

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable. As part of a hardworking team of engineers, you will model launch vehicle dynamics, develop simulations and infrastructure, and develop launch vehicle guidance and control software. Our team works across the spectrum of G&C development: from system level performance requirements to software development and verification. Analysis work ranges from linear stability analysis to Monte Carlo simulation analysis to Hardware-in-the loop simulation. We continuously work to improve the efficiency of our development processes through automated documentation and test infrastructure, as well as automated mission design. Successful team members demonstrate excellent engineering judgment and an ability to work independently with minimal direction and supervision. Required Qualifications: B.S. degree in aerospace, mechanical, or related engineering field 2+ years of hands-on experience developing launch vehicle guidance and control software Strong engineering fundamentals; particularly in physics, dynamics and flight mechanics. Thorough understanding of fundamental controls engineering, such as frequency response analysis, stability margins, filtering, and state-space control and estimation. High proficiency in Simulink and MATLAB for modeling, simulation, control design, and automatic code generation. Practical experience in software development, including requirements development and verification. Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills.. Desired Qualifications: Substantial experience and success developing controls for real systems. Hands-on experience with high-pressure gas and cryogenic propellant systems. Deep knowledge of systems engineering for safety-critical systems. Experience with rockets, missiles, or other aerospace vehicle systems.
