Trident Seafoods Corporation DIRECTOR, HR - PLANTS & VESSELS in Seattle, Washington

The primary goal of this role is to build sustainable HR capability at the site level---ensuring HR teams can effectively support day-to-day plant operations while also enabling stronger workforce performance, leadership effectiveness, and long-term talent outcomes. This role plays a critical part in raising the overall maturity, consistency, and impact of HR across highly variable operating environments, with particular emphasis on closing capability gaps between Alaska Shore and Value-Added operations. 

Essential Functions:

  • Leads, coaches, and develops a team of 7 HR Managers, ensuring they have the skills, tools, and confidence to independently manage complex HR matters. 
  • Elevates HR capability across all sites, with a targeted focus on investigations and employee relations, performance management and manager effectiveness, and compliance and risk mitigation. 
  • Establishes clear expectations, operating rhythms, and decision frameworks that enable HR teams to function effectively in both stable and highly seasonal environments.  
  • Provide strategic HR leadership across processing plants and vessels, ensuring consistent application of HR policies, practices, and standards while accounting for operational differences. 
  • Leads through change, helping HR teams and plant leaders adapt to evolving workforce needs, policies, and expectations. 
  • Translates enterprise HR strategies into practical, site-level execution plans; acts as a connector between HR onsite and the Support Center, ensuring alignment without creating dependency. 
  • Partners with plant leadership to improve overall workforce performance, including strengthening front-line and plant leadership capability, improving performance management quality and consistency, and supporting workforce planning and readiness for peak seasons. 
  • Drives improvements in engagement, retention, and employee relations outcomes, particularly in high-volume and seasonal environments.  
  • Assesses current HR practices across plants and vessels and identifies opportunities to standardize, simplify, and improve knowledge-sharing across sites; builds scalable tools, playbooks, and training approaches to support HR teams operating with varying levels of experience. 
  • Regularly works onsite to build strong team connections, collaborate across functions, and solve problems in real time.
