DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
The Clinical Strategy Division leads strategy development, business development, service delivery planning and execution for UW Medicine, inclusive of Harborview Medical Center, UW Medical Center and in collaboration with integrated partners such as Fred Hutch Cancer Center, Valley Medical Center and Seattle Children’s Hospital.
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
The DIRECTOR, HARBORVIEW MEDICAL CENTER HOSPITAL TOWER CAPITAL PROGRAM will manage a large portfolio of complex capital projects at Harborview Medical Center (HMC), specifically focused on building the new inpatient hospital tower and the enabling projects needed to complete the tower construction. The role is highly cross-functional and will work in close coordination with Executives and Senior leaders at Harborview Medical Center, UW Medicine Shared Services, and King County Facilities Management Division. The DIRECTOR, HARBORVIEW MEDICAL CENTER HOSPITAL TOWER CAPITAL PROGRAM will provide program oversight to help drive the planning and execution of these large-scale capital projects. This role will direct allocated project management resources to plan and execute key workstreams as part of the large portfolio of projects.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversight of the Harborview Medical Center Bond project and associated capital projects in the Bond portfolio (Tower and Tower-enabling) on behalf of the Harborview Medical Center CEO and Executive Team
Direct the work of a team of project managers to focus on execution of key workstreams within the capital program
Coordination with key stakeholders, including internal and external teams including Harborview Medical Center Design, Construction, Facilities and Clinical teams
Coordination with King County FMD
Portfolio status reporting including risk and issue management and resolution
Executive and Board-level reporting on portfolio and project
Develop structure and approach for cross-functional management of in-scope capital programs including documentation and reporting standards. Implement PPM tools to ensure consistency across all Harborview Medical Center capital projects
Responsible for integrated master schedule, integrated risks and issues tracking and resource management for in-scope projects
Influence, communication and relationship-building skills to achieve results
Ensure in-scope capital projects meet key business and clinical objectives required at HMC
Ensure in-scope capital projects and priorities are based on a strong data-driven foundation including business case development in coordination with the UW Medicine Strategy division
Support CEO and Executive team decision-making
Address barriers, risks and issues through coordination with internal and external stakeholders and strong problem-solving ability
Act as the main point of coordination for large-scale capital projects on behalf of the CEO of HMC. Ensure portfolio of projects is accurately tracked, reported and communicated effectively
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare, Engineering or Architecture or related field
Six to eight years’ experience
Strong understanding of program and project management tools and principles
Excellent written and verbal communication
Problem solving and decision-making
Leading with influence
Excellent organization and ability to execute
Ability to create a safe, inclusive and collaborative environment
Strong experience managing diverse stakeholders
Advanced experience in project and program oversight and execution of large-scale complex capital projects in a healthcare setting
Advanced experience using PPM, specifically Primavera P6 and Smartsheet
Experience leading other project managers
Equivalent experience may substitute for degree requirement
