Insight Global Critical Environment Engineer in Seattle, Washington
Job Description
This role is responsible for ensuring the operational integrity, reliability, and scalability of the Critical Environmental Systems supporting the clients IT Research computing, storage, and network infrastructure. The position partners closely with internal stakeholders, peers, and contractors to manage data center operations, monitoring systems, maintenance, and expansion projects while maintaining N+1 system integrity across electrical and HVAC systems. The role also serves as a subject matter expert for research-driven data center growth initiatives.

Skills and Requirements
• Minimum 4 years of experience supporting and managing Critical Environmental Systems or data center facilities
• Hands-on experience with data center operations and maintenance in large-scale environments
• Strong knowledge of:
○ Electrical distribution systems (AC and DC)
○ UPS systems, generators, and transfer switchgear
○ HVAC systems (chillers, pumps, valves, humidification, chemical treatment)
• Experience working with Building Management Systems (BMS)
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation
• Experience with capacity planning, infrastructure monitoring, and metrics
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and industry-standard monitoring/reporting tools
• Demonstrated ability to solve problems in constrained space, power, and cooling environments
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, highly collaborative environment • Data center certifications (e.g., Certified Data Center Management Professional – CDCMP or similar)
• Familiarity with ITIL framework
• Experience using Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tools
• Experience managing projects of varying sizes
Experience supervising small technical teams (2–5 people)
