The Opportunity with McKinstry
We are currently seeking a Compensation Analyst to join our Human Resources team in Seattle, WA. In this role, you will be responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining consistent, accurate job descriptions across the organization. The role partners with HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, and Compensation to ensure job descriptions are properly structured, aligned with role expectations, and accurately reflected in job postings and systems. The role plays a key part in improving consistency and quality in how roles are documented, while supporting broader efforts to streamline job descriptions and enhance organizational alignment over time. Additional responsibilities include:
Draft, edit, and maintain job descriptions to ensure consistency in structure, tone, and required content across the organization
Partner with HRBPs and hiring managers to define role responsibilities and ensure job descriptions are complete, accurate, and aligned with internal standards
Maintain job description templates, track requests and updates, and ensure timely and efficient completion of work
Partner with Recruiting to ensure job postings accurately reflect approved job descriptions and role expectations
Coordinate with Total Rewards and HR Ops to ensure roles are properly set up in systems (e.g., Workday) and aligned with applicable pay components (e.g., shift pay, auto allowance, incentives)
Support audits and continuous improvement efforts by identifying inconsistencies, improving job description quality, and contributing to future job architecture initiatives
What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
2–4 years of experience in HR, Recruiting, HR Operations, or related field
Experience drafting or editing job descriptions or similar documentation
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Prefer exposure to compensation or job leveling concepts
Strong written communication and ability to create clear, consistent documentation
High attention to detail and quality control mindset
Ability to gather information and translate it into structured content
Strong collaboration skills across HR and business partners
Ability to manage multiple requests and timelines

The pay range for this position is $72,090 - $119,300 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
