Bryce Corporation Maintenance Technician Machinist in Searcy, Arkansas

Summary: Responsible for repairing, maintaining and fabricating mechanical components to ensure machinery and equipment operate efficiently and safely.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Understand and use safe practices while working on equipment such as: GMP's, Lock Out Tag Out, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and Arc Flash Equipment.

  • Sets up and operate mills, lathes and CNC mills.

  • Selects appropriate tools, materials, and machine settings.

  • Monitors machine operations to detect malfunctions or deviations.

  • Troubleshoots and resolves machining issues.

  • Ensures compliance with safety regulations and company policies.

  • Keeps inventory of raw materials such as steel roll stocks.

  • Roll repairs such as welding and turning down roller shafts on a lathe.

  • Provides and maintains basic hand tools required for daily repairs, as specified by the maintenance manager.

  • Examines mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic equipment (often while operating) using various test instruments or blueprints and schematics as necessary and diagnoses problem.

  • Determines best method of repair or replacement and secures tools required to perform work, transporting tools to machine or carrying defective part(s) to maintenance shop.

  • Dismantles equipment as needed using hoists, lifts, tools, etc. to gain access to problem area.

  • Removes, lubricates, and cleans defective parts as necessary.

  • Examines or measures parts to determine extent of damage and decides whether repair or replacement is necessary.

  • Repairs parts using hand tools and power tools or secures replacement part from maintenance storeroom.

  • Reassembles parts and equipment and makes adjustments as required.

  • Observes equipment and parts when back in operation to assure problem has been effectively resolved and machinery is functioning properly.

  • Cleans work area around machinery or in machine shop and returns useable items to storeroom and tools to designated storage area.

  • Fabricates racks, buggies, tables, etc. and other projects from sketches, drawings, and blueprints using metal, plastic and or wood.

  • Utilizes machine shop equipment including drill press, mill, lathe, bandsaw, grinder, welder, etc.

  • Performs some design work on special projects and initiates purchase requisitions for parts and other supplies as needed.

  • Completes preventive maintenance assignments as required and reports malfunctioning production machinery to Maintenance Manager.

  • Works on company vehicles as assigned and performs repair work in plant offices as needed.

  • Installs new equipment and machinery as designed by Engineering Department and Maintenance Manager.

  • Assists in training other technicians.

  • Keeps company equipment and tools organized, cleaned and operational.

  • Performs daily, weekly, monthly, or other periodic inspections as assigned through the work order system.

  • Inspects and maintains ink pumps as required for the turbo-clean inking systems.

  • Inspects parts based on specifications and accepts, rejects, or replaces as needed.

  • Maintains an accurate log of hours worked in the work order system and provides details of repairs made daily.

  • Willingness to continuously seek out a deeper understanding and knowledge base in order to keep up with advancing technology.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills, Abilities, and Competencies:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Formal technical training and certifications preferred.

  • Related experience with lathes, mills, and other machine tools.

  • Ability to read blueprints and adhere to specifications.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and compliance with safety rules and regulations.

  • Demonstrated self-motivation, ability to work effectively individually or as part of a team.
