Job Description
The Shipping and Receiving Worker (Shipper Trainee) plays a key role in the order processing and shipping team by safely operating forklifts, handling materials, and ensuring that products are packaged and documented accurately for on-time shipment. This role requires consistent attention to safety, quality, and detail while working collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
Operate sit-down forklifts and other types of forklifts safely and effectively to move, load, and unload materials.
Read and accurately interpret shipping documents in English, including load slips, packing slips, sales orders, and truck configurations.
Package products so they arrive safely at their destination in a cost-efficient manner, using appropriate materials and methods.
Document package types, dimensions, and weights for shipping records and documentation.
Meet scheduled shipping requirements accurately and safely, ensuring orders are processed and shipped on time.
Lift and handle products weighing 50–75 lbs repeatedly, using proper lifting techniques and requesting assistance or equipment when needed.
Learn to operate and drive all vehicles in the company fleet as required for shipping and receiving activities.
Perform basic quality control checks while picking, packing, and banding products to help maintain high product quality standards.
Follow all corporate safety and quality procedures and immediately report any incidents or unsafe conditions.
Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with team members in a small team environment.
Work a reasonable amount of overtime when business needs arise.
Support general shipping and receiving tasks, including staging, organizing, and maintaining a clean and safe work area.
Essential Skills
Previous sit-down forklift experience, with prior certification from a past employer.
Ability to read and understand shipping documents in English, including load slips, packing slips, sales orders, and truck configurations.
Ability to repeatedly lift and move 50–75 lbs safely throughout the shift.
Ability to operate forklifts of various types safely and effectively in a manufacturing environment.
Basic shipping and receiving knowledge, with prior experience considered a strong plus.
Ability to work safely, follow established safety and quality procedures, and promptly report unsafe conditions.
Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team environment.
Willingness to work overtime when needed to meet production and shipping schedules.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
0–5 years of manufacturing experience.
0–5 years of packing, basic machine operating, or quality inspection experience.
Experience with measurement tools such as gauges, calipers, and micrometers is a plus.
Extrusion operating experience is a strong plus.
Previous experience in shipping and receiving is a plus.
Experience with warehouse operations, including shipping, receiving, and production support.
Familiarity with documentation practices for shipping and inventory is beneficial.

Work Environment
This role is based in an extrusion manufacturing plant and involves working in a production and warehouse setting. The facility can become very hot during the summer months, and the work is physically demanding, including frequent lifting and movement of materials. You will work on a first-shift schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with reasonable overtime as needed. The position is part of a team of approximately five people, emphasizing close collaboration and communication. You will regularly use forklifts, material handling equipment, and standard measurement tools in a busy, safety-focused industrial environment.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
