Walker River Paiute Tribe Senior Accountant in Schurz, Nevada

DEFINITION:

Under immediate supervision of the Finance Director, performs and manages financial records, ensuring compliance with regulations, accounting principles, and supporting audits.

Manages Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Payroll and responsible for reconciling accounts and bank accounts, preparing journal entries and overseeing month-end and year-end close process in the Finance Department.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reconciliations of bank statements.

Review Trial Balance for discrepancies and make corrections.

Assist in Reconciling accounts monthly to ensure accurate reporting.

Manage the general ledger and ensure timely and accurate postings of transactions.

Responds to all audit requests on a timely basis.

Assists visitors and department employees.

and#9679;

Maintains the fixed asset inventory and provides disposition of tribal inventory;

Assist with providing updated monthly reports to program directors;

and#9679;

Provides assistance with budgets.

Maintains capital expenditure to ensure compliance with all processes;

Assists with Accounts Receivable, Payroll and Accounts Payable;

Assist with the Indirect Cost Rates (IDC) proposals

Conducts Journal Entries.

Assists with calculating and posting Indirect cost expenses to eligible expenses

Ensures procurement processes are followed

Performs other duties as assigned within the Finance Department

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.

Proficient in accounting software such as MIP, Microix and Microsoft Excel.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, or at least three (3) years of bookkeeping and/or accounting experience, strong analytical skills, and proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

Must have a valid Nevada Driver's License and able to be covered under the Tribe's insurance

Must successfully pass a background check
