Proctors Collaborative Cafe Supervisor in Schenectady, New York
Proctors Collaborative is the Capital District’s leading regional arts organization with performing arts venues in Albany, Schenectady and Saratoga, and education, civic engagement and economic development initiatives throughout the region. Proctors Collaborative seeks a full-time Café Supervisor to join its Food and Beverage team. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Supports the Food & Beverage Manager
Oversees and supports daily cafe operations
Trains employees in accordance to Proctors Human Resources procedures
Maintains standards through consistent application of rules
Maintains food standards and consistency in all menu items via preparation specifications. Regularly reviews the product range to ensure that all key quality standards are maintained
Along with the Food and Beverage Manager:
Uses portion control and spoilage reports
Provides and practices inventory system which includes rotation standards. Institutes effective loss prevention controls through consistent receiving, stocking and inventory systems
Minimizes waste through efficiency
Maintains daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedules for the kitchen and dining areas and tracks results and participates when needed
Maintains strict compliance of all NYS Health code requirements
Maintains and verifies safety procedures for daily operation
Guarantees the best dining experience possible by ensuring a visually pleasant open service area, cleanliness of tables and floors in the dining area and positive customer interaction
Possess a solution-driven attitude, with strength in efficient minute-by-minute problem solving
Proficient in conflict resolution to defray issues be it between fellow café employees or displeased customers
Demonstrates strong communication skills, ie: verbal and written communications with employees and customers
Serves a wide number of external and internal customers. Maintains close, professional, effective links with all café staff
Ensures that kitchen and cafe are fully staffed and is available to cover unfilled shifts as needed
Coordinates shifts to ensure there is always a manager on duty
Duties as otherwise required.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
The candidate must:
Be quality-driven while maintaining aggressive financial returns
Show leadership potential and strong work ethic
Demonstrate a creative approach to executing daily menu items and specials
Be able to work a varied schedule that includes nights, weekends and some holidays
Have experience working in environments and interacting with with a diverse staff and customer base.
Safe-Serve accreditation is a plus.

Stand for long periods of time
Walk several miles in a day
Lift 50 pounds
