Job Title: Sit-Down Clamp Forklift Operator I
Pay Rate: $20/hour
Location: Port Wentworth, GA 31407
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 6:00 PM – 2:30 AM
Job Type: Temp-to-hire
Job Summary
The Forklift Operator I is responsible for safely operating material handling equipment to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. This role ensures efficient product handling within the warehouse and may also support order picking and verification as needed. Experience operating sit-down and clamp forklifts is required.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Operate sit-down forklifts, clamp trucks, and push-pull equipment to move and store merchandise
Safely unload inbound shipments and transport products to designated storage areas
Pick, stage, and prepare products accurately for shipment
Verify correct quantity and product type before shipping
Perform order picking while meeting productivity and quality standards
Move products from staging areas into trailers
Follow all safety procedures and company policies
Maintain accurate inventory records
Assist with physical and cycle counts as needed
Ensure proper stock rotation
Identify and report inventory discrepancies
Complete equipment inspection forms prior to use
Use RF scanners to maintain inventory accuracy
Report safety concerns to management promptly
Utilize basic computer systems, including Microsoft Excel
Required Skills & Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
Experience operating a sit-down clamp forklift required
Basic computer skills (including Microsoft Excel)
Strong attention to detail and basic math skills
Good communication and customer service skills
Knowledge of warehouse safety procedures
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and/or walk for 10–12 hours per shift
Ability to lift and/or pull 50+ lbs without restriction
Frequent bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching (above and below waist level)
Ability to walk long distances in a large distribution center (may exceed ¼ mile)
Ability to work in varying conditions (noise, lighting, temperature changes)
Ability to access all areas of the facility without limitations
Flexibility to work extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
