Overview of the Role

The WWTP Technician operates with minimal supervision and is responsible for maintaining a solid understanding of wastewater treatment plant processes.Reporting to the Plant Environmental Specialist, the WWTP Technician collaborates closely with the Maintenance team and provides operational support to Plant Engineers and Journeypersons within the Maintenance department.

Salary: $39.00 per hour

Schedule: Day shift (Monday to Friday – 7:00am to 3:30pm)

How you will make contributions that matter:

  • Facilitate timely and efficient preventive and predictive maintenance activities for production equipment, wastewater treatment plant systems, warehouse equipment, utilities, HVAC and building maintenance.

  • Perform routine wastewater treatment plant operations, including:

  • Monitoring and adjusting pH and solids

  • Calibrating probes, sensors, and analytical instruments

  • Making process adjustments to ensure efficient WWTP performance

  • Receive bulk chemical deliveries, ship sludge, and wash and maintain WWTP equipment.

  • Assist in the investigation and response to chemical or hazardous waste spills that may enter the wastewater collection or storm drainage systems.

  • Support and participate in energy‑saving and efficiency initiatives within the plant.

  • Work collaboratively with other trades, vendors, and contractors to complete assigned projects.

  • Take, record, and trend readings from instruments such as flow meters, pH meters, pressure gauges, and HMI systems.

  • Assist in the preparation of reports by compiling operational data and maintaining accurate logs.

  • Complete required documentation, including:

  • Work records (Maintenance shift logs, logbooks etc.)

  • Parts usage/inventory maintenance

  • Timesheets

  • HACCP and regulatory documentation

  • Act as Plant Power Engineer during emergencies or operational crises, including covering shifts on short notice as directed by the Chief Engineer.

  • Assist MRO with inventory control and maintenance supply management.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications:

  • Must successfully meet all company employment requirements, including skill assessments and interviews.

  • Must possess valid 4th Class Power Engineer and Refrigeration Engineer ticket.

  • Experience in industrial maintenance, food manufacturing, and/or possession of a WWTP Operator Certificate is considered an asset.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to safely use hand and power tools.

  • Comfortable working with chemicals and analytical instruments required for plant operations.

  • Physically capable of lifting heavy loads, working in confined spaces, and operating in extreme environmental conditions.

  • TDG (Transportation of Dangerous Goods) training is mandatory and will be provided by the company.

  • Demonstrate self-motivation, initiative, and ability to work independently.

  • Basic computer skills and comfort working with HMI systems are required
