Counter Sales Associate

Job Description

The Counter Sales Associate works on-site at the head office in Saskatoon, serving as the first point of contact for walk-in customers and incoming phone calls. In this role, you greet visitors, support retail sales, coordinate special projects, and manage the full order process from initial inquiry through to execution. You ensure a positive customer experience by providing friendly, efficient, and accurate service at the front counter.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist walk-in customers at the front counter in a professional and welcoming manner.

  • Answer incoming phone calls promptly and provide accurate information or direct inquiries to the appropriate team members.

  • Take initial customer orders by phone and in person, ensuring all required information is collected and documented accurately.

  • Enter customer orders into the system, verify details, and follow through to ensure orders are executed correctly and on time.

  • Support retail sales activities by understanding customer needs and offering appropriate products or solutions.

  • Assist with special projects as assigned, coordinating tasks and communicating progress as needed.

  • Provide consistent, high-quality customer service to maintain strong relationships and encourage repeat business.

  • Stay organized and manage multiple tasks and orders simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.

  • Learn and use internal software systems efficiently to process orders and access customer or product information.

  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to resolve issues, clarify order details, and ensure a smooth customer experience.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a sales role, preferably in a customer-facing environment.

  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally with walk-in customers and callers.

  • Good verbal communication skills to clearly explain information and respond to customer inquiries.

  • Good written communication skills to accurately document orders and update customer information.

  • Ability to stay organized and manage multiple tasks, orders, and customer interactions at the same time.

  • Capability to learn and adapt to new software programs quickly.

  • Access to a vehicle to reliably commute to the head office location.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Divisions 8 and 10 is an asset.

  • Experience in the construction industry is an advantage.

  • Interest in growing a career in sales within the organization.

  • Previous experience in counter sales or retail sales is beneficial.

  • Basic project coordination experience supporting sales or customer orders.

Work Environment

This is an on-site role based at the head office in Saskatoon, working at the front desk and front counter. The position involves frequent face-to-face interaction with walk-in customers and regular phone communication throughout the day. You will spend most of your time at a workstation and service counter, using computers and internal software systems to enter and manage customer orders. The work schedule follows weekday daytime hours (Monday through Friday). The environment is customer-focused, fast-paced at times, and requires a professional appearance suitable for front-desk and customer-facing responsibilities.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $38.00/hr.
